Google is a private sector company. Unless you want big government to regulate what they can and cannot offer their customers, then you should patronize companies that are more in line with your views.

The not so nefarious theory would be that YouTube has simply been cheap and lazy with their entire system and have a mediocre algorithm supplemented by random people from various countries with wildly different values than ours policing content that they may not understand w/few if any guidelines to let them know what is and isn't ok for advertisers.

Why would they demonetize anything?

Google is making decisions that they feel will maximize their future cash flows. The outrage at a private company for internally policing the content that appears on their digital platform is misplaced.

Google is not the US government. You have no right to free speech on Google’s property. If you don’t like it, start your own platform.

Because advertisers don't want to be affiliated with some content. It's easier to just demonetize across the board than it is to take it on a case by case level.

So...YouTube will just make money off of people creating things and putting it on their site which creates hits and traffic for the owners of YouTube, and not pay the creators anything?

Almost sounds like a message board...

Because starting up a platform from scratch that has the reach and reliability of YouTube/Google is able to be done by anyone, right?

Not to mention the moment you tried, Google would squash you like a fricking bug.

I know perfectly
all videos are still there - nothing is removed

this is just cutting off any violence from advertising. has zero to do with conservative or liberal

please think a little

Thought a little. Still not buying your typical horseshite. If that’s the case how does the History channel maintain advertisers on public television?

Please take your own advice.

Historical documentary isn't violence, and hasn't been "demonitized" across public and cable television.

Not to mention are you really trying to argue violence isn't monetized in general in the entertainment industry?

The Left: Well it's a private business, they can do what they want. If you don't like it make your own platform.

Also the Left: GAB CAN'T BE ALLOWED, THEY DON'T CENSOR HATE SPEECH. THEY'RE PART OF THE ALT RIGHT RABBLE RABBLE RABBLE

Also..also the left: BAKE THE frickING CAKE BIGOT!!

The types of people that caused the issues that led to that war are currently taking over world politics again....so yea.

If the video is demonetized, YouTube isn't making money off of it either, at least not in a direct way.
