Met my husband of 20 years at Bogies in 1998 so that’s a favorite. (haven’t been there since 2001, so i have no idea what it’s like now.)

In highschool, The Bayview at Cypremort Point. Only people from the New Iberia Lafayette area will understand this favorite.

I can’t recall any other bars that really stand out.

The bartender at Soji on Govt mixes some excellent Cocktails. I’ve only been there once, but his drinks that weren’t on the menu were some of the best I’ve had in Baton Rouge. We went at an odd time on a Sunday during corona, so no one was there, but i would imagine it’s fun during regular hours sans corona virus. But it’s a restaurant bar so i guess that doesn’t count

Was that the one under the GNO bridge? If so I saw Galactic there in 96 or so. Was fun.

Saw Col. Bruce and the ARU at the FMTTM saloon in 1992 during the bluegrass festival. Tiny venue with springs under the dance floor. Magic night.

I'm not a barfly, and I haven't followed the thread at all, but if Hollywood Raiford's in Memphis hasn't been mentioned then the thread loses all its credibility.

Hands down one of the most fun place I've ever been in my life. It's just a good time in all aspects of the term.

I remember the DJ putting on that 70's ballad "Precious and Few" and singing over it while everyone threw napkins and cups at him.

Now I go to all my favorite dive bars and avoid the big scenes, but the list below is when I had the greatest times in my single life:

F&M Patio Bar--early 80's to mid-90's, before the children started calling it home. Played on their pool team in the Bud Light leagues at the time. On our wedding night we actually did a wedding dance, tux and wedding dress on, on the pool table after our reception. Had all our leftover reception food lined up on the bar. Great night.

Cooter Brown's--my first "beer bar". At 18 y/o had never seen so many varieties one place. Now it's common but not years ago. Lots of all night pool games. Went back recently for the first time in years--sucks that they took the pool tables out.

Que Sera--(now Superior Grill on St. Charles) 80's-90's. Not the greatest bar but had the greatest 3-for-1 Happy Hour on Wednesdays. Seems like every young professional in New Orleans was there. Serious dating scene. I scheduled my Thursday work days to start at noon just to accommodate the late hours.

Honorable mention (college years):
--The Bengal, early 80's, on Highland. Now I believe there's an auto parts store there.
--The Bayou--played a lot of afternoon pool there during their cheap beer hours. Heard a lot of music I can't remember. Dirtiest bathrooms I've ever seen.

TJs was definitely my spot when in town from 99-2002 or so.

The original Bud Rips in the 9th ward when Turtle was running it. 98 til whenever he left I guess it’s been about 5 or so years since it changed.

BAW!

My NOPD uncle (very regular patron) used to take me and my cousin there when we were 15-16 (01-02). Turtle would look at me and my cousin, then look at my uncle and say, "They look old enough to me" and slide us each a bud heavy. My uncle would just laugh and say "I'm off the clock."

That's a cool story. I wish I would have known about and been up for going to bars like that back in the day.
I went for the first time three years ago to see a special concert with Morning 40 Federation(I think that's the name) and it was stupid crowded. I've heard it's a major hipster place, but I bet it would have been cool back 15-25 years ago.
