Give an excerpt of your family history that is random, but interesting.

Do not be so specific as to give away your personal information.

There is a library at the University of Alabama named after a distant relative. The irony is that people in Alabama don’t know how to read.

Jim Bowie is a direct relative.

Pretty cool looking at our family tree to pick baby names for our son due in September and seeing him on it.

I am related to this guy

quote:

William Barret "Buck" Travis (August 1, 1809 – March 6, 1836) was a 19th-century American lawyer and soldier. At the age of 26, he was a lieutenant colonel in the Texas Army. He died at the Battle of the Alamo during the Texas Revolution. Travis County and Travis Park were named after him for being the commander of the Republic of Texas at the Battle of the Alamo.

My maternal Great-Grandfather got deported from Germany for bootlegging.

Must have been a repeat offender.

I am related to George Washington’s grandfather, Augustine Warner.

Which also puts me in the same bloodline as the current royal family.

My great grandfather came over alone from Germany when he was 13 to escape WW1. Ended up in Buffalo with some other family members I believe. My grandpa enlisted from there, traveled the globe, and ended up retiring at barksdale.

My great-grandfather's 4th cousin was POTUS and created the first National Wildlife Refuge.

Also related to Daniel Boone.

My great-great grandfather fought and was captured at Vicksburg. My grandfather still has some of his paystubs from the CSA and his parole papers from the Union.

My grandfather shot and two killed men robbing his friend’s store. There was no trial. This was back in the 20s or 30s.

My ancestors include James Beauregard Beam (Jim Beam) and Howard Hughes. Only fitting that I am a crazy drunk.

My father was a relentlessly self-improving boulangerie owner from Belgium with low grade narcolepsy and a penchant for buggery. My mother was a fifteen year old French prostitute named Chloe with webbed feet. My father would womanize, he would drink. He would make outrageous claims like he invented the question mark. Sometimes he would accuse chestnuts of being lazy. The sort of general malaise that only the genius possess and the insane lament.
