Funny you mention this bc earlier today i had one friend tell us in a group chat that she was talking her husband about how they needed to call a termite person and when she got on FB later the first ad she saw was a termite ad. And then another friend said the same just happened to her husband earlier today when they were talking about beekeepers and when he got on FB later he saw an ad about how to become a beekeeper.
For the record neither of them got online and googled anything about those topics. Just personal convos they were having with each other.

I haven't researched it or anything but from personal observation I haven't noticed that any programs original to iPhone do that.
But once using Google (I have an account logged in on safari and don't know if it matters) it will store information. I've read before it is pretty invasive. Like location tracking, if you look up a retail store it shows in Google the traffic activity and average time each person spends in there.
For apps you install from the App Store you send messages through and Google searches related advertisements will pop up across apps

Ok it just happened to me. I am on this site, put my phone down. Was talking to mriluv and he started yelling at the dog for stealing his underwear. When I picked up my phone just now to get back on the OT, an ad popped up for underarmour underwear!!

How’d you pay for it? I’m guessing the restaurant sells info ready our buying habits, and they tied it to you through your debit/credit card.

bless your heart for not editing ease drop
I did it on purpose (not the misspell, the non edit) just to watch the grammer nazis melt

The idiots complaining about grammar are too stupid to even discuss the topic.
I’ve been leaving my phone in the car more and more. Especially when I shop.

Your phone / FB / Google now have you profiled as Black. IF you didn't say "ernge" it may let you slide. It may also show you Dodge Charger rebates next.

If there was a crush promo where you were they probably targeted everyone who was at that location.
most definitely happens if you have location settings turned on your phone.

Does that include if you aren't signed into your google account or have your location setting turned on?

This is why I removed the microphone on my phone and replaced the void with tinfoil.

You are surprised that your phone hears your conversations?!?

I saw a story a few weeks ago about the data Google collects on you through your phone apps. The writer took two phones and turned one off and put the other into Airplane mode and proceeded to drive around town for a couple hours running errands and making other stops. The writer had access to the software to download the Google data and found that both phones tracked where he had been all day and the places he had stopped. It knew he was near certain places of business and targeted ads for those that subscribed to their service.
As for listening to our conversations, Siri is always listening for your commands so I am sure anything you mention in the keyword data base is uploaded too.

You can do that if you want
It all depends on the how much privacy you want.
There will be a contraction soon with the spread of smart devices. The ripples are already being felt in the industry.
Many of came from a world where we were not all connected and were amazed at this technology. A new generation is coming to life that is always connected and will be amazed at being unplugged.

I had a guy come into my office once. Never met him before. His phone was on my desk. Later that day he came up as a friend suggestion on FB. We have no mutual FB friends.
