Your life is important, everyone.

I lost a good friend of mine today. He had lost his wife in a car accident they were in, and struggled with survivors guilt for the last two years since the accident. He committed suicide today, leaving behind his two young children.
I can't stress this enough... There are people that love you! There are people who may not even know you that can be there for you! Please, if you are having a tough time, see a pastor/chaplain, see a psych, see family if you have any available. Seek help, because it is out there!
Tim was a great man. He gave everything he could, and apparently thought that he had nothing else and nowhere to turn (because he didn't want to be a pain to anyone's life with this immense pain that he had).
If you know someone going through a tough time, don't just assume they are ok. Check on them. It doesn't have to be intrusive, but make sure they know you care. The world is short on love as it is, so please, do your part to restore that love if you see someone in a rough spot. It isn't something that we think about, but everyone has the potential to be a hero, a lifesaver.
Your life matters.

OMG man. That's awful. Prayers to family and friends. And it breaks my heart for the kids left behind. Hopefully they have loved ones to help.
Sorry man

Sorry to hear about your friend Tim

Yes. And I don't agree with his course of a action either, but that doesn't change what happened.
Thanks everyone, I just want people to know that others are willing to help.

Sorry for your loss, but in the more immediate picture is what happens to the kids? Do they have grandparents, uncles, and aunts to look after them? Any will that they need to be made aware of on the line of secession on who gets them?

Not trying to be a dick but how selfish does a person have to be to check out after seeing their kids lose their mom?

I am so sorry for your loss.
I think people feel too sad to seek help. They probably fear being treated as crazy.

They will be with a family member, though it hasn't been long enough to be made clear which.
This may be the saddest thing I have seen.
ETA: He had a living will & testament. He was a former USAF member.

I'm sorry for your loss. Holidays are a tough time for a lot of people.

Not to mention doing it 2 weeks before Christmas.

So, this wasn't made clear before their deaths on who the kids would live with in case of their untimely demise? Maybe if they both went the way of the wife, but I have a hard time believing that a suicidal person wouldn't at least get that straightened out before killing himself and leaving his kids behind.

Didn't think about that either. Real dick move. Couldn't have waited another month or got the will straightened out at least?

The will is straightened out, the details haven't been pushed to friends of the family yet, as we are giving them grieving time & space.

I can't imagine someone who chooses this path despite having children they love are thinking that pragmatically. Come on.

I'm not saying you're wrong, but depression can be a funky thing. Rational thought doesn't come into play, sadly. Prayers for his whole family and I hope his children are surrounded by those who love them.
