You should do some research.

what does it take to make people understand that that someone with a broken mind does not have the thought process to make rational decisions.
You could learn a lot by reading this entire thread and paying particular attention to the posts by people that have a clue about mental illness.

It's much easier for them to say things that have no bearing on the point of this thread.
You know what they say re: opinions/assholes.

I have lost a couple friends to suicide in my life and at no point did I think they were being selfish. (Although it's a common response). I felt nothing but sadness knowing what extreme pain they had to be in to resort to that ending. Sad indeed.

The problem is that you aren't in that situation, you know?
I mean, I've been really, really down before, but I personally think I overanalyze things to a degree of even knowing I'm a burden to someone, I wouldn't want to make the holiday season for the rest of their lives an even bigger one. Had a few drinks last night, but that's the analytical side of me talking.

After my dad shot himself I had my mom to take care of me. She told me recently she thought about swallowing the gun herself after but didn't want me to be alone. She's been happily married to my stepdad for a decade now with her first grand kid.
I'm sorry for your loss man, and I pray for those sweet children.

I get it, the guy was depressed, he could've gone to therapy, church, whatever he liked to do to clear his head. But instead, he just gave up and left the shattered pieces for his family to deal with and his kids to bear for a lifetime. Nobody sees how that is a little selfish?
Well he could have been doing all that as well and none of it worked. I just don't think you understand depression.

Depression is a terrible thing. People who have no suffered from depression or seen some who has, have a difficult time understanding. Depression isn't logical and having to deal with someone who's a manic depressant is rough. In many cases those people are suffering from other mental disorders that aren't logical.
My mother really needs to be in a place where she can be looked after but she refuses. I came to the conclusion many years ago that there is only so much that I can do and will deal with her on a day to day basis.
