On my birthday August 17, 1974 at the age of 15 I walked out of the DMV Office at the Mississippi River Bridge Authority Building on the Westbank side of the bridge with my newly acquired Drivers License and into a 1957 Chevy Bel Air 2 door hard top. Tan and white body with Tan and white interior. 283 c.i. engine with the a twin barrel Holly Carb.
3 speed on the floor hurst shifter. Pontiac racing cam. Wide tires with
Slotted mag rims. The rear end was slightly raised with leaf spring suspension. Very stiff. Rubber titties on the front bumper. This is what the stock version looked like in 4 door exact color

and 2 door

My uncle had that exact car. Around 1983ish he topped a hill and a cow was in the road. Splattered the cow and the front of that car looked like an all metal accordion. He held on to it and sat in his backyard. Some guy showed up with a flatbed trailer about 15 years later and paid an exorbitant amount of money for it and loaded it up.

I can still remember the smell and feel of the car. And as I recall they did not use oil filters.

1991 5.0 Mustang Notchback got it when I was 16 in 1996
Not sure what my parents were thinking letting me get that car.
My first ticket was a 99 in a 55 and that is only because I slammed on the breaks when I saw the cop I was doing like 115 or so.

1984 Cutlass just like pic but dark blue/ blue interior. Hand down from parents. Alpine radio, Alpine 6x9s, proton amp, and “sparkomatic” equalizer(alpine eq too expensive). Scratched off sparkomatic name on face. Fooled many people.
Funny thing is annoying people broke into my car and stole it all. But when the cop showed up he found the eq smashed on the sidewalk. He said “ I wonder why this is the only thing they ……………….oh……………”. I said “Yeah, sparkomatic”

1981 Chevrolet Camaro.
Bought it in 1983 when I was still 15.
Was a victim of the 1970’s depowerment and gas’s shortage. Had a 265 V8 which was the smallest they made with white wall tires.
Only had 20,000miles but was underpowered as hell. One year later put GOODYEAR Eagle GT’s in it and dropped a new 350 in it.
Still have to today and everyone is shocked how good it looks. Dad takes it to car shows.
