United 553.

My introduction to conspiracy theories, and I got a course credit for the class I was in that used it as a topic for the semester.

He died in 1966.

I watched "Paul is Dead: George Harrison's Last Testament." It was pretty good.

My pet theories: Gerry Adams was/is a paid MI5 asset/informant, and I am certain that the RUC/Special Branch was following the events of the Omagh bombing in 1998 and had it completely within their power to stop the bombers from placing the car bomb. I believe they refused to step in because they knew the effect this atrocity would have on the Peace Process and the blow it was would have on support for Dissident Republicans.

Another : Robert Nairac was the man with the "Posh English Accent" the night of the Miami Showband massacre, and he was working on behalf of British Intelligence. They wanted to make it look like the band was ferrying explosives for the IRA, and Nairac gave the order to slaughter all of the band members when the plan went wrong.

By the way, that one is actually a legitimate issue.

He had a tendency to go loony in support of Don The Con, but he used to cover a lot of legitimate issues that were rarely talked about my most news outlets. He'd take wild leaps to unjustified conclusions and demonize the frick out of anyone he considered left. But I thought he had one of the most entertaining shows. I'd listen in sort of a detached way, sifting through the loony and legitimate, knowing he could go off the rails become comedy at any moment.

The 1998 World Cup Final between Brazil and France.

Ronaldo is arguably the best player in the world at the time, and has a seizure the day before the Final. There are theories he was drugged during lunch (the WC was in France), he overdosed on painkillers for a knee injury (serious knee injuries would eventually blight his career), or he had a nervous breakdown.

Ronaldo was initially dropped from the team sheet, but was suddenly added to the starting lineup an hour before the Final. He played horribly, and France won 3-0. Rumors grew after the match that he was forced to play because of Nike's heavy investment in sponsoring him, and the Brazilian Football Confederation. Nike even issued an oddly-worded statement to deny the rumors.

Anything with
quote:

Hillary Clinton is
and
quote:

satanic

in the same sentence is probably not a conspiracy theory.

I'm not sure what happened with that.

By the way, the common use of the term "conspiracy theory" wouldn't be apt fot MKUltra. That's more in a category with the Tuskegee Experiments. Conspiracy facts would probably be a term.
