Some friends of mine did this 15 years ago and moved to New Mexico, they've survived so far.
Seem to be doing well

I would buy as many rental properties at the beach as I could afford for my primary income and then work as a starter/marshall at a nice golf course to pass the time.

When my kids are self sufficient (so probably never) I will move to Auburn or the Florida Keys, and do some contracting engineering work. My evenings will consist of good food, drink, and reading in silence. Would love to have a little spot in both places and hop between the two.

No it's not... I've fished the amateur side on the circuit, and it's a lot of work and time away from the family..
This is true. But on the boater side, its going to be quadruple what you have experienced. Been there done that

But in the end, winning the big ones is were it matters....
Been there done that too. Its a great feeling but it will fade fast and you are always left starting over on the next event.

So you were more focused on the location and not the profession?
Yep. Found a place that was home, find a way to make a living. I wake up every morning thrilled that I'm here. Mountains, sea, good people.

It always amazed me how fast those guys pulled out when they didn't make the final cut to get to the next site...
I fished with Edwin Evers, 2000 top 150, before he became a big name.. Guy was staying in his truck camper on the tour... At the time, he did have his Bass Pro/Nitro sponsor..
I take it your home lake is Lake Lanier...?

Running a sports big complex would be fun. Courts, cages, driving range, etc.

Yes. And I did win a national event here. Also had some great finishes on other lakes. Did it for a few years. Didn't want the travel so I started my guide business in 2000. Been doing that since
Tournament fishing for a living is very difficult. Very few can truly be successful at it.

Have a stand on a 30A beach where I rent jet skis and pontoon boats to tourists while I sit back with a Yeti full of Coronas to sip on all day
