It’s not that we can’t get a human to th moon now because we lack the technology to do it, it’s that we stopped going to the moon in the early 70s because there wasn’t any point in continuing to do so at that time in the opinion of Congress. And considering it’s Congress that holds the purse strings of NASA, it’s Congress that says if and when NASA can go to the moon. It costs a lot more money to send anything, especially men, to the moon than it does to send them into earth’s orbit. That’s why we haven’t been back.

Is it possible two things are true? I believe we made it to the moon. But I also believe we faked some of the footage for propaganda purposes.

Chappaquiddick happened on July 18, two days before the launch of Apollo 11. But the launch date of Apollo 11 had been finalized on July 16 when weather forecasts showed July 20 would be suitable for launch. So the launch was set two days before Chappaquiddick happened.

I dont understand why the fact that people are skeptical upsets so many people to such a degree. To me the unhinged people on this thread are the ones saying how stupid everyone is, they shouldnt be allowed to vote, and need to get re-educated in training camps.

I appreciate the ones who give actual rebuttals to the skeptics points. I cant wrap my head around someone not at least acknowledging that there is room for skepticism. Skepticism does not equal denial.

Gun to my head, i would say we landed on the moon. But it does bother me that it is the only achievement in the history of exploration (that I am aware of) that we were the only ones to ever do, have never gone back, have never aspired to reach further, and despite advancements in technology we say we cant yet repeat. Also its the only thing I can think of that a reason we stopped doing is bc it was too expensive. We still build rockets. We now have a space station that is shared by multiple countries. We still send people into space. Technology has advanced everywhere and continues to do so making technological parts and components of the past cheaper to make and gain access to.
