I don't understand what's so controversial about this. At the end of the day, I don't give a frick what the dude puts on his food, I'm not losing sleep over it. It's just an observation.
For some reason most people on this site can't decipher between an observation and being outraged over something.

Who gives a frick? It's a sunk cost (assuming you aren't scum and you intend to pay for what you order), dress it up any way you want.
A $40 steak doesn't taste like a $40 steak to me until it's crushed under the weight of the salt and sauteed mushrooms I throw on top of it. YMMV.
