Probably because you don’t need to in many states.

You can get married at a bank in Alabama.

Shacking up is so acceptable now, why would anybody need a budget wedding?

Eloping is pretty much pointless now. Small destination weddings are still nice, though.

If you want to "elope", just walk down the the clerk's office and take a trip after.

I got married with with just both of our parents there. I guess that’s eloping? Wouldn’t change it for anything we saved so much money and it wasn’t stressful at all. We had a chefs tables dinner after and then left for our honeymoon

Does 2nd marriage count?

A 1st cousin called his mother (my aunt) a couple weeks ago to tell her he remarried. Aunt barely knew he was seriously involved.

My wife and I eloped. Didn't plan it that way but I came down on orders to Germany so we had to break up, try a super long distance relationship, or get married. It was rash and a dumb thing to do but I got lucky and we're still together.

My wife and I were engaged for a year and already living together. We started planning a wedding and decided it was too much of a pain in the arse and expensive. We canceled it and flew to Vegas a few weeks later and got married.
