Ford and GM should bring back rear wheel driven sedans and brands like Mercury, Oldsmobile, etc

GM makes rear drive sedans.
I am still pissed they shut down Olds.

I'm aware. That W41 was a beast! 190hp out of a 4cylinder in 1991. Those W41 cams became sought after in the Quad4 aftermarket community.
I had a 92 SCX W41 years ago. It didn't get on the pipe (cams) until about 4500 rpm. Fun car that cornered like a beast. Took it to the shop for an oil change and the guy said it was the only Achieva he had ever seen with a manual.
Considered buying that about 15 years ago. Imagine it's still out there somewhere.

Agreed, but probably won’t happen unfortunately.

The new Ram 1500 Limited is the best truck ever made.

- The Jeeps that aren’t based on a Fiat chassis are actually sturdy vehicles.
- The average Lexus model is 5-7 years behind the Americans or Germans in design and technology.
- Mazda is the most creative Japanese brand by far and they deserve more sales in the US than they actually have.
- Since the proliferation of CVTs, Nissan/Infiniti have phoned in their new designs and have given up on trying to compete with Honda.
- Toyota/Lexus used to rely on durability (not gimmicky styling) and quality to stand out. They have forgotten that philosophy as other automakers caught up and Toyota products get weirder and weirder looking.
- Your average Chevy Silverado, Ram Cummins, or Ford Econoline van sees more miles and abuse in its lifetime than anything made by a foreign company.

Dodge is the current King of the American Musclecar
Musclecar yes, because they are basically the only one that builds one. As for pony cars with the Camaro gone the Mustang is the king.

While I agree the styling is questionable on a lot of their cars they still have a solid lead in reliability and dependability.

Lexus had cassette players in 2009

Was that confirmed?

Chevy will neither confirm nor deny. Mags are citing multiple sources inside GM that say it is indeed suspended. I think it will pop back up again and unlike the Mustang the Camaro hasn't been in continuous production since the 60s so a hiatus wouldn't be unprecedented.

I miss Pontiac even though the recent cars were all ugly pieces of trash.

My 2005 5.4l Triton was a great motor. 130k problem free miles. Regret trading in that truck

When they devolved to nothing but badge engineering and got the mistaken idea body cladding was the new car jewelry it really hurt them. The fact they didn't have a solid SUV when they were becoming the cash cow of the brands didn't help. Torrent or Aztek anyone? Don't forget the wasted money on the G8 Ute, I don't know if I ever saw one in the wild.
Of course, the final nail was the post-2008 economy and the fact Pontiac sold their rebadged Chevys cheaper so they made less money per unit and diluted the Chevy brand.

Some bright spots for Pontiac at the end were the Solstice and G8. Good cars IMO.

Solstice
It was saddled with 2.5 problems.
1. Its Kappa platform cousin the Saturn Sky looked a lot better to most people, the Solstice looked like a Miata that came down with the mumps.
2. The Miata. On the drivers car side there was no comparison. 400 pounds lighter and a chassis that had been sorted for ages. The negative is it was a little on the buzz bomb side on the road but you could drive over a quarter and tell if it was heads up or heads down.
3. The 1/2 problem was the S2000. The F20C and F22C1 engines are sex. Much better car but at a higher price point.
So the decisions was:
Want a track-capable car for a similar price? Get an MX5
Want a better cruiser than the MX5 for similar money get the Sky.
Want a much better car that will hold its value forever fork over more dough and get the S2000.
But if you are an anti-vaxer that likes the look of a full-blown case of Rubulavirus head on over to the Pontiac dealership.

There’s sort of a market for the new GTOs they made 04-06.

Using a true sports car as your daily commuter sucks like 65% of the time.
It took about a week for me to figure out that all the guys buying my make and model as their 2nd or 3rd car were on to something.
