Considering Kyle did not shoot first (think Han in Star Wars Special Edition) he would be considered a martyr who attempted to end a potential mass shooting, but died in the process.

Probably the same thing I would if my son instead came to me and said, "hey dad, the cops shot some criminal and I'm going to head out to burn and loot businesses, and try and fight anyone who doesn't go along with that".
But at the end of the day, neither of those "reasons for being there" has any impact on the case and whether the events were self defense.
Your hypothetical is akin to asking a rape victim..."Well, why did you go out dressed like that? Of course you were probably gonna get raped...it's your fault!"

If those people were trying to do that to KR while he was holding a rifle just imagine what they would’ve done had they gotten it away from him
