Went to a softball tournament a couple of weeks ago and my hitting started to suck. Today went out and literally couldn't have it the damn thing. Has this happened to anyone?

Never heard of the yips? Sometimes your mental state fricks up your ability. Doesn't matter if it's golf, sex, softball, or writing. You get in your own head about one little frickup and it builds.

Three weeks ago I was sticking my short irons like I was throwing darts.
A week later I'm shanking everything into the ball washer.

This is something you should discuss with your doctor and not openly on a message board

Joel Stave had the yips for years. He's the reason UW started Tanner McEvoy against LSU in '14. Still super pissed about blowing that game to y'all

Haven't had the shanks in a while but I will now that you spoke of them. Dick.

Wing-lish. You got to "wing it" to understand it.

Only he who have had the yips know how truly devastating it can be.
I've only had acute yips. Back in high school, I didn't strike out much as a hitter (tended to fly or ground out), but when I did I would go down at least three times.
A friend of mine had a long-term case of the yips. The guy was all locked up in his dome and just could NOT throw the ball where he wanted to, even though we all knew he was better than that. Sad, terminal case from which he never recovered.
ETA I thought a little bit more about it, and sometimes I would also get it playing in the outfield. When a batter would hit one into the clouds and I had a long time to think about it (possibly right next to the dugout of the other team where everyone was screaming at me), I would occasionally catch it awkwardly or drop it altogether.

The worse cases of the yips are usually pitchers that can’t throw to first, catchers that can’t throw the ball back to the pitcher like Mackey Sasser or golfers that can’t make easy short puts.
It’s commonly referred as Steve Blass Disease

I've never had them on the greens - I'm as shitty as I ever was. I usually on get them on the approach. Sometimes I can strike the pin within 10-15 yards on a consistent basis, and sometimes I completely frick up and hit the lip of the green or launch it beyond. I've had more holes over par because of shitty wedge play than anything else. Feels bad man.

When I was 23 I was about to get laid but something smelled bad and I couldn't get it up.
The next time she came over I couldn't get it up again, I think it was mental at that point.
I think god was being a bro those days because it ended up not working out and she got fat and had 2 kids with a janitor.

I had them in high school. I literally threw the ball about 20 ft over the pitchers head from shortstop after a play and allowed a run to score. I was only about 15 ft away. It is unbelievably hard to fix. A major mindfrick. It would only show up on routine throws, grounders or pop ups. Never was a problem while pitching though.
Coach couldn't bench me because school was kind of small and lack of options. Undeservedly made All-State but not on the first team. I seriously felt like i was the worst starting player in the state defensively.
