My SIL sent it to me last night and I laughed my arse off, even if it is making fun of our side of the family.

Well, he's clearly not happy about it, if that helps any.

In. Best of luck. Shame we have a healthcare system that can't cover shite like this.

Just sent a donation. God bless. I'll be praying for them.

Much obliged.
He turned 3 months old in the last few days. I think they said he is already over 15 or 16 lbs. He is wearing 6mo clothes.

The tubes are officially out and he is only on CPAP now. Praise God.
I know many of you have contributed monetarily and through prayers, and I can't begin to thank you enough. For all the shite talking that goes on in these parts, almost everyone here is good folks. I like to think that the good Lord listened to all of you vile, crass, rude bastards and helped that little baby boy along. Cheers.

Pretty dang good! The local Columbus affiliate put a story out on him just a few hours ago.
quote:
Little Wilder Williamson was born with a mass on his right lung. Doctors first made the scary discovery back in January, six months before his due date.
quote:
“It was really grim. They were like there’s a good chance this baby won’t make it to term or that it could be a stillborn. The mass had started out so big they were afraid of cardiac arrest,”
quote:
Wilder was born at 39 weeks. Immediately after birth he was put on a heart lung bypass machine. He also underwent surgery where doctors removed the lower and middle lobes of his right lung. Wilder was five weeks old the first time he was held by his mom and dad.
quote:
After 63 days on a ventilator, doctors were finally able to remove it giving the Williamson’s another glimpse of hope. Though the road to recovery is still long, one thing Wilder has proven so far, is he’s a fighter.
“He’s a living, breathing, testimony of the power hope, the will to survive, and the power of prayer,” said Charlee.
quote:
They’re still in Texas and will be for several weeks to come. Coming up on Tuesday the Williamson’s share what the journey has been like during the middle of a global pandemic and how their hometown has been their rock.

Little baw is going to have to get another surgery next week - the mass on his right lung popped back up (though not as large as before) and has been inhibiting his CO2 exhalation, so he had to back to the ventilator instead of the CPAP. He experienced tremendous progress initially but has plateaued since.
Y'all say a prayer or two that the the surgery is successful and he can continue on his road to recovery. Thanks again to you all.

I saw the update on the GoFundMe, and it about got me. That little baw needs a break. Here's to hoping this surgery gets rid of it, and it never comes back.

How much of that did you have to pay with insurance?
Crazy how expensive health care is
Just think if you're a family that can't pay and the situation that puts you in.

Hey baws - the surgery last week went very well! They were still able to leave a good chunk of his upper lobe (the entire lung itself is expected to grow back, eventually, which still blows my mind).
They took out his chest tube today, and he is well on his way back to recovery. Even with all these complications, the little man is already close to 19 lbs!
My brother and his wife have been given the use of a vacant house just 5 minutes from Texas Children's, thanks to a family friend. They have been spending thousands of dollars a month just on parking fees and toll roads, so this is a tremendous help. My brother will finally be able to start looking for employment in the area - if any of you folks work in finance, I can point you towards a man who ran a successful proprietary business for over a decade.
Thanks again for all your support, prayers, and tolerance for me giving y'all updates every now and then. You bastards are my catharsis.

Little fella got moved to a cannula a week or two ago...now he's on the low flow. Docs say he should be out of NICU by Thanksgiving at the earliest, and Christmas by the latest. God is good!
I will continue to reiterate my appreciation and love for all of you incorrigible bastards who have supported my family throughout this. Keep praying for little Wilder!
