Is it just me or do these folks come off as incredibly needy, self-obsessed assholes? "The waiter did not smile and didn't respond to my stupid attempt at small talk."

They're dorks who are attention seeking just like the other 95% of the American populace.

I will say that the Yelp dorks provide a service in exchange for their needy and pathetic attempts to find kinship and praise among other dorks.

Hierarchy

IG sloots
Yelp people
needy girls on facebook
ugly needy girls on facebook

I once gave a bad review of a local restaurant on Yelp. Zero stars. They didn't put enough bacon on my burger.

It must have inspired the chef to do a better job, because the next time I went in there he told me was gonna give me his "secret special sauce" on my burger, which made me feel special... like I deserve.

Wasn't great sauce, kind of salty, but still a nice gesture by the chef. I gave the restaurant 2 stars that time.

You have to wade through the idiots to find a consensus on those sites. Same with any review system for any product.

The pictures of the food are far more useful than the stupid reviews people post there.

For real though. If I have a bad experience at a business, I just avoid the place in the future. If its out of the ordinary for the service to be lacking I may contact someone there and let them know. I dont want to let the entire world know that they served my lasagna slightly warm instead of super hot. Im not out to try and soil a businesses reputation and make possibly 40 employees suffer because a human made an error.

Whining snowflakes hiding behind their computer.
I enjoy reading the restaurant owners whom are brave enough to respond, defending their business & staff.

Could not agree more with this. There is no bigger loser than someone who does this as an amateur hobby. Especially those who shite on local restaurants trying to make it.

Yeah, there are places I thoroughly recommend, but it's still possible to have one-off shitty service or a bad plate. I'm not sure how some of these people can write a poor review on the one time they ever tried a place.

I only leave reviews if my experience was excellent.

Every great once in a while I'll do a Google review if the food and service were excellent (so more people go and the place stays in business) or pathetic (to warn people away and/or give management a chance to change things before they go under). I figure the "average" range doesn't necessitate a mention either way.

I did take a picture of my food at a restaraunt once because it looked delicious. Manager walked over and started telling me all the stuff about why the restaraunt was awesome and telling me about all their deals. Realized 5 minutes later it was because he thought I was a Yelp reviewer or some shite

Yep, I've never done a Yelp review, but I look at reviews before checking a lot of places out. I do the same thing on Amazon, and will do a review if something is really great, or if it sucks badly.
