Yellow lights need to last longer on 55 mph roads.

Morning rant, how dangerous is it to be going 55 and have a yellow light get you and you have to jam your brakes on to avoid running through a red light.

Aren’t yellow lights timed relative to the speed of the road they are on?

If they are they seem like they never do it correctly. And that’s no matter where I live, Louisiana, Texas, Iowa, Oklahoma, Idaho, Washington… It doesn’t matter

They are timed according to how many tickets the PD needs before the end of the month.

Pay attention to the road and driving and this won't happen.

The ones here on 280 in Birmingham are long yellows and then there is a considerable delay before the opposite lights turn from red to green.

I swear I can sense when the lights about to turn yellow. It’s not the best superpower to have but at least it lets me speed up a bit so I usually make it through.

Try doing it in an F-650 pulling a loaded 40 ft. mini-float trailer.

They are supposed to be. They aren't always, though.

The one on pineville coming down the hill is like a 2 second yellow. You just have to look for cars on the side road. If you see one pull up, you better hit the brakes

Fun fact:
In Europe, just prior to a light turning green from red, it will flash the yellow light.
Hence the lyrics from Def Leppard's Pour Some Sugar on Me "Red light, yellow light, green light, go"

Any fricking red light at 55 mph speeds should have the flashing yellow “Red light ahead” signs to warn you when it’s going to turn yellow.

I hate those fricking high speed red lights. Hwy 90 S out of Lafayette is full of those fricking things.

I speak for all of humanity when I beg of you to PLEASE use this power for good.

It chills me to think of a world in which you use it for evil.

I always just say frick it and run it if I’m pulling a trailer or have food in the car. I’m not throwing everything into the dash or potentially causing a wreck over a red light or an animal in the road. I’ll take the ticket, pay it, and move on.

They need to make them all yellow for the same amount of time too. There's a light at Bluebonnet and Celtic Dr that stays yellow for like a half a second. I run that damn thing a few times per month on my way home.

they ought to make the lights into seconds count down like pedestrian crosswalks.
