re: Years after the adoption of Common Core, ACT scores are lowest in over a decade

Some children learn differently than others, and I think that's where the structure needs to change.
I have a horrible memory, so rote memorization does nothing for me. My reading comprehension is almost zero, so I can't read books and know what's going on. Giving me the fundamentals, and then relating them to practical applications that I can visualize or actually experience is the way I learn. I even learn and think better when I'm standing up. Keeping kids still, quiet, and writing letters and numbers on the board is the way it's done now. That doesn't work for everyone

Books are now on IPads, everything is electronic, kids are addicted to technology, etc, etc. I'm not backing common core, at all, but theres a lot of factors at play.
Nope
We've had increasing technological advances since I was a kid. We've only had CC for a handful of years. This is the first group of kids that went through High school completely under CC instruction
And you see the result

Yeah man, 100% common core, no other societal or cultural factors played any part in it. None, nada, zip.
I don't like common core either, but you being ignorant doesn't strengthen your arguement

More idiots are having kids than smart people. This trend will continue no matter if it is common core or we go back to the previous version.

Factory schooling was designed to make a standard, noninnovative citizen. This is a surprise to no one. The people who designed the U.S. system did it for nefarious purposes.
FOLLOW THE MONEY: Public School | a reallygraceful documentary
In this mini-documentary about public school funding, I discuss the history of compulsory schooling, the corporations who have channeled billions of dollars into the public school system under the guise of philanthropy, and how that philanthropy has influenced legislation that's resulted in a government monopoly over schooling.

Extending the school year would give greater flexibility to spend time on the more difficult topics.
I'd argue that the school day is too long. How is that in college, I'm in class for at most 25 hours but elementary, middle, and high school kids are in class for 40 hours a week?

Its the lowest in over a decade. Not much has changed in a decade societally (unless youre blaming gay marriage?). Math scores were down going back to 20 years ago. We went thru 9/11 since then, and scores didnt drop that bad

they force a student to work a problem a certain way. If a student understands how to do the math, they should not have to learn a new way to figure the problem out just because that's what the teacher says they should do.
Welcome to the over arching problem with the department of education.

Please list for me the changes in society since CC was introduced to public schools in 2011, that weren't present before then?

Teachers have complained about this from day one. Always surprising to me that people in the profession are never consulted on these types of changes.

Snap chat, Twitter, IPads, and 7 year olds having them all. Thats the biggest one in my opinion, is the reliance in technology. In 2011, I can tell you with certainty that schools weren't teaching the way they are now in regards to technology and the kids were using it like they are now.
Look, I know things haven't changed much at the plant in that time, you all still work a shite ton of overtime to go to Destin and lie about your paychecks, but theres more to the world than Geismer, Bud Light, Wolverines, and Copenhagen

Hes gonna have a tough day getting his list together, since the ACT reached a college readiness high in 2012. With all those societal thingys going on then.
And here we are just 6 years later, headed south. Because society has fallen apart so quickly, and all. Not because CC was brought on in 2011, or nothing

I said it was a significant part, but not the only reason. I know reading is hard for you, but slow down a little and you'll eventually get it.

Your need to insult someone, anyone, in your posting says a lot about your insecurities.
