Mrs. Vader and I just arrived at my MIL’s house. No one else is here yet except my 15 yr old daughter who’s been here since Tuesday helping her Meme put up Christmas decorations. So far they have 5 of the nine Christmas trees up with each room decorated in the same theme as the tree. My wife’s aunt also lives with my MIL (they’re both widows in their 70s). She is apt to say something to spark some arguments and hurt feelings.

We’re waiting on the following to arrive:

Wife’s cousin #1 and her husband: pretty normal folks other than being pure narcissists. Oddly enough they’re brining their own turkey and dressing even though my MIL has made both and is known for how good her Thanksgiving food always is.

Wife’s cousin #2 and her husband: she’s a blue hair leftist that’s into cosplay and her husband is a full blown literal communist. He’s also very near sighted and sits around holding his phone about 3 inches from his face. His table manners are just above those of a starving dog.

Wife’s aunt and her son: she’s like 92 yrs old and has zero filter. She’s reached the age where she will tell you exactly what’s on her mind. And she’s virtually deaf so she’ll say it very loudly. I look for some fireworks between her and the communist. Her son is mostly a normal guy but rather quiet. Though he could say something to offend the communist.

My wife’s aunt and her daughter. The aunt is in her late 70s and loves three things: gambling, cigarettes, and booze. The daughter is crazy and a raging drug addict. I don’t see them staying too long as they cannot drink, smoke, or do drugs while here. There could also be fireworks between these two and the elderly aunt.

My son and his girlfriend. I’m looking forward to seeing my son. It seems things are getting serious between him and his girlfriend, who my wife and I both really like. I’m expecting a proposal will be coming in the not to distant future. I’m ready for that. I want grand babies.

As for me, my plan is to eat good food, chill out, avoid drama, and watch football.

Brand is Butterball. Not sure how much it cost since it was a gift. I’m pretty sure they are about $100. Think they have them at Academy.

First bird out of the oil. Letting first bird cool a bit to get it out of the basket and let the oil get back up to temp. Second birds time to take a bath is approaching rabidly.

Awesome! Thank you so much! You may have solved the dilemma of what to give my spouse for Christmas this year.

I've already sneaked six devil eggs into my mouth for breakfast. Will deny it until I die however, but unsure who to blame. I'll figure it out when the time comes.

Happy Thanksgiving!

Do yall like hosting Thanksgiving at your house or having it at somebody else’s house? I love having it at somebody else’s house so I don’t have to clean up and I can leave when I’m ready. I had it at my house once and we ate at 1pm and people didn’t leave until 2 am. I like the fact that after I hang out with family and eat, I can go home lay on the couch watch some football or movies and relax.

That is funny and lazy as shite. I'm a loner so I cook for me so I have to clean for me. I'm alienated from family so f'em.

I like it at my house. My wife and I cook, people bring a dish they are good at making, we eat, drink, and relax. If I drink too much I can pull an Irish Goodbye into my bedroom and anyone else can use the guest rooms if needed.

2nd bird in. Total hands on time including skin trimming, injecting, butter rub and seasoning rub, maybe 30 or 40 minutes combined for both birds. Drop it in, close the lid, set a timer and chill.

My parents were asked to be here at noon. It’s always an issue with them showing up way too early since they have nothing else to do, so I even padded the time a little.
At 11:00 they come rolling up and instead of parking in the driveway like a normal person would think to do, my dad drives into the middle of my front yard.

That’s all the drama I will probably have today so I’m thankful

Nephew and his girlfriend just showed up at momenems with their dog and expected to bring it in the house. Dad put the stop to that with the quickness. Dog is in the car now but there is pouting. After a few more white cans I’m betting the dog comes back in…

I just pulled the turkey off the smoker, made my bloody, and am getting ready to stretch in anticipation of the great things to come from this thread over the next 24 hrs. Thank you Chicken. Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours.
