I’m
Not the one bitching and moaning about not being mommy and daddy’s favorite.

I’d say it’s you who needs to lighten up Francis.

So you gave your BIL your nuts at the door? Did you offer a reach around?

BIL drove in from out of state today. He showed up at our house to drop off his dog and then went to his hotel. No request, no call, no heads up on even bringing the dog, much less it staying with us. BIL just did not want to pay to board the dog and decided he didn’t want it to stay in the hotel with him, so he made it our problem. Wife is pissed. I’m pretty floored.

People are so fricking bizarre.
I can’t even.

You’re certainly bitching and moaning about me making a joke about it though.

Going to my momenems. It may be entertaining; my family is nouveau riche coonasses, my husband and my brother’s wife are old money. Drama is not uncommon, especially when we play bourré. I’ll try to get a game going and update if anything interesting happens.

I had a cousin bring a damn Cockatoo to a family Christmas party once.

My husband and I used to have a Hyacinth Macaw. Very beautiful, but the beak is enormous. My husband was her one true love (he hand fed and raised her, and I didn’t come into her life until after she was a year old). Whenever we’d take her out of her (extremely large) enclosure around people and she got nervous, she’d reach away from my husband’s wrist and bite my thin little lady wrist as hard as she could if I got too close to him. It hurt like hell, and I’m surprised she never did me any permanent damage. Those suckers use those beaks to crack coconuts. (She died from ecoli at about 20 years old. When birds get sick, they don’t show it until it’s too late.)

A bird is not a “party animal”. Shame on your cousin for stressing the bird like that.

I would tell my BIL that his dog was welcome to stay on my front porch with no collar or fence to contain him. If he is there when my BIL gets back - good. If he is not there when my BIL gets back - good.

I don’t care either way.

One of the things my military father taught me is to “calmly mean what you say” and don’t make any threats. Just explain what your actions will be.

It’s not a discussion. It’s a simple statement.

If my BIL started making comments past that, I walk away.

Yeah! I agree. I don’t understand people. Like I get the BIL, he’s a selfish entitled prick, but most people are and will act like this. What I don’t understand is how people can’t say no, that ain’t happening buddy.

In a cabin in N. Georgia, nobody else awake yet, started a fire, made some coffee, have the dog next to me while watching Christmas Vacation.

Pretty good morning so far.

All of this dog talk is ruining the thread. We only care about trashy families. Unless they bite someone and it causes a scene then there’s probably no place for it in this thread

Have you seen a therapist about your codependence with a freaking dog? This unnatural attachment is surely a sign of mental illness

We're at my wife's side.

Last night about 10 we got back after having a few drinks and ma-maw, wife's grandmother was sleeping on the couch. 5:30 I get up to go find coffee and ma-maw is face down on the floor next to the couch.

She's still like this.

My FiL says all is good she does this. I think she's dead.

Will report back later.

Fairly certain that’s what the service dog is for.

Either way, all this bickering about taking dogs places is ruining the best thread of the year. Knock it off, all of you.

Unlike Displaced, I’m not in a sexual relationship with mine, and he’s just sitting comfortably on the sofa watching the fire…waiting to bite someone and cause a scene.

Put a small mirror up to her face. MaMaw might have given up on Thanksgiving this year.
