Big waste of time for a peanut increase

Communication is an important part of being a Subway sandwich artist.

They absolutely skewered me. They said Sears was once a powerhouse in retail, and asked me how I could let it go like this.

When I was at the bank, I used to get average yearly reviews, yet I was a top producer in the company. I always got dinged for not making enough phone calls or some stupid ambiguous thing like Attention to Detail.
I would be like "I'm at the top of the division and top 5 in the bank. What kind of review is this?"
Eventually I would just sign the review and move on.

Performance reviews have become horseshite especially now that a lot of organizations make you do a self evaluation first to take the work off people who are supposed to be evaluating you for promotions. That and they are required to find flaws even if they might not exist. Then they start getting nit picky.

Never get raises. Most of my compensation is commission based. Company says rising costs of goods/services is a natural built-in raise as time progresses.

Honestly, if they're only evaluating performance once a year, they're circling the bowl. The annual performance review is mostly a formality now. And the self eval is the biggest load of crap ever. Either you're doing your job or not.

Wasn't inflation like 2% last year?
