Reagan was a wayyyy better politician than Carter. Jimmy Carter is very, very, VERY smart. Very high IQ guy. His moral compass was too strong to be a good politician.

He wanted to kill strip mining, yet he got the Alaskan pipeline route approved and deregulated oil and natural gas.

Also was responsible for greatly expanding the National Park system, which he doesn't get enough credit for.

He faced a lot of headwinds in his administration, some of which were his fault, some of which weren't. Simultaneous economic and foreign policy crises were too much to overcome.

I don't know about that. My Dad tells me he drove cross country to visit home and wasn't going to be allowed gas due to rationing even though he was nearly empty. He told the station he was military and they let him get some. That seems way worse

The entire social and political environment was much more favorable when Carter was President. The country was far more unified and moving in a positive direction. Divisiveness, anger, and a lack of personal responsibility are far worse in today’s culture.

So few people today experienced it. People today would lose their minds if they had to experience it.

We’re experiencing the worst president of all time right now.

Someone more crooked than LBJ (maybe Obama could match him), as far left as FDR, as trashy (or trashier) as Clinton, weaker than Carter, and as old as the crypt keeper. He’s truly an amalgamation of God-awful presidents. He’s the worst of the worst.

But typical of a Democrat-controlled federal government

I was just a youngin but I don't remember rationing per se. There were long lines, sometimes stations were out of gas, but nobody was barred from buying gas if they got to the head of the line and gas was available. At least in Louisiana.

Today, there is no gas rationing and no 14% mortgage rates.

You are suffering from recency bias

President Carter is a very decent man but as president, he had no control of his job.
His creations of the departments of Energy and Education will go down as the worst possible decisions he could have made. And then there was Iran and the economy…WOW !

Too honest of a man to be a politician. He is a good Christian man and I have a lot of respect for him. God bless him and to those saying awful things on the poli board, shame on you people.
