Are you still interested in getting that? I found it strange that you couldn't get your own "real" birth certificate if you wanted it. But as noted my biological mother used a fictious name and no father indicated. So, wouldn't have given anything of use.

My Great, Great, Great Grandfather and Grandmother immigrated to the US from Munich, Germany in August 1945. I took a DNA test that showed I have 0% German (according to My Heritage's DNA test), but I'm;

59.8% English
14.7% Iberian
11.5% Scandinavian
6.1% Greek
5 % Balkan
and 2.9% Ashkenazi Jewish
I have 1st cousins that have Ashkenazi Jewish DNA also (but my brother does not). Our last name is an 'Ornamental' name meaning 'spear sport or game'. That's probably why there's not many of us around today. LOL

The sibling difference thing is wild... we are not clones of our parents. We don't get complete halves of their DNA or all of their DNA compressed to half... we get pieces and some things are dominant in one child compared to another. You can look at families and see that... hair color, body types, height...

Had way too much fun in my early 20s to take one

We watched 48 hours mystery last night and they found a killer 30 years later by the cops using 23 and me. Everyone has access to your whole DNA profile

Yeah all of my half siblings range from 30ish% shared to as low as 20% shared.

That’s why you don’t tell them your name. I created a “burner” e-mail account and communicated only through that account. Completely anonymous…

There was a case where I live in 1999, where two high school girls were killed and left in the trunk of a car. It was big news around here for years. Different suspects off and on. Even arrested a couple of people over the years who were eventually exonerated.

A couple of years ago, they finally arrested the guy who had done it and convicted him. A close relative of his had done one of these DNA tests and they tracked him down from it. It’s crazy to me how that is possible now.

French ancestry to Quebec then traveled down to Louisiana after they were booted by the Canadians for not swearing allegiance to the Queen.

I mean honestly, this 100% explains me.

that’s what I did to see if it was real - not based off of my name

And all my DNA comes from Ireland and Great Britain. Which is accurate from my family’s stories.

I talked with him in Dec 2020 (when I was 42), got official DNA test to confirm in Mar 2021, and he passed away in July 2021. Picked up 6 aunts/uncles, 2 brothers, 2 sisters, and am 1 of 21 cousins. Talk to a lot of them regularly and will be down there this coming March while my kids are on Spring Break (we live in Tx).
That's awesome (except for Dad passing away part).

I am white as white can be. Like 90% British with some Irish and Scottish and a small percentage of Norwegian. Guess my family got raped and pillaged at one point.

My mom was adopted so I was expecting some surprises but there were none.

No, I'm an old man now.

It was through Volunteers of America. You have to jump through hoops to try and ascertain the birth parents' identity.
