First one is a De Haviland Mosquito. First B&W one is a P47. Second B&W one is an F4U Corsair.

P-51 Mustang is the most badass fighter in American History.

F-4U Corsair is forgotten but equally awesome 1a / 1b IMO

A-10 Warthog is a very Close second

B-29 Superfortress

and of course ---- the motherfricking F-15. God damn sexy piece of machinery.

The Marathon Battery Company used to produce calendars with reproduction nose art photos. They were really awesome and a piece of WWII aviation history.
The PC crowd weighed in and companies started banning the calendars in work areas. I'm not sure if they are still being produced. I haven't seen one in a while.

I can't really argue with your opinion, but it's hard to ignore the contributions of the F6F Hellcat. Here are total kills by US Aircraft in WWII

P-51 Mustang (and A-36) 5,954

F6F Hellcat 5,168

P-38 Lighting 3,785

P-47 Thunderbolt 3,661

P-40 Warhawk 2,225

F4U Corsair 2,140

I can't see the gun ports to be 100% accurate, but that appears to be a P-51D, at worst a B/C. Not really an early one... The one beside it is a B/C (depending on manufacturing location)

If you were flying against Zeros, which plane would you want to be in? FW-190's?

F3M1 Bearcat, delivered just days before the end of the war, faster and more maneuverable than the Hellcat, would be my choice against the Zero.

P51D vs the Focke Wulf
