As Americans I don't think we'll ever understand the feeling of loyalty to king and country like others do, so yes it surprises me but it's not like the Japanese were the only ones with this sort of loyalty. Does seem odd with no gunfire you'd just assume after that long the war was going on still and not assume it was over.

Odd that that was either a very common method of cursing the enemy in the afterlife, or that there are closer ties between Native populations and eastern Asian ones than we have realized.
Or the same myths keep being told.

There are correlations between Japan in the 20th century pre-war belief systems and current day Islamic terrorist. Not the same organizational level or "god" belief, but ruthlessness and cruelty toward other humanity is on par.

I get what you're saying but at some point you'd think common sense would kick in

Not only this, but there are widespread stories of them cutting Allie's dicks off and stuffing them in the mouths of dead Allies.
Even worse, if you had red hair, they'd behead you. They considered red-headed people as devils.

Bushido and the Emperor in their minds was God. Plus, intense military training. They weren't an organized rabble.

I'll probably get ripped for this, but am I the only one who thinks these soilders are completely stupid for staying for 30 years?? I get the loyalty aspect of it and carrying out your 'mission' but damn man, after 3 or 4 years of not hearing anything go boom, you'd think these small, efficient frickers would have figured it out
I think after a few years living in a cave with some other smelly guys the Emperor worship would get old. Of course how the heck do you get home from an island in the middle of the pacific? If you did get home and the Japanese were still in the war you'd get your head cut off. Not a lot of pleasant options out there.

Hey, lighten up.
My Dad and his USMC buddies played baseball using dead Jap's nuts on Okinawa. He said they went through a lot of balls.

How so? Do you refute all the evidence of it?

Right. False accusations. She was asking for it.
There is pretty significant evidence of the Nanking Massacre FWIW

No immigration to their country by non-Japanese as well. They have kept their society and race as "pure" as possible in the PWWII era.
Sounds like hyperbole to me.

Well think about it, when all your radios are out and you can't get in touch with anybody because the Americans have completely dismantled any capability you have of getting in touch with anybody...couple that with the whole Bushido and Emperor worship, and the insane discipline those guys had, it's not completely unfathomable. Albeit insane, but not that surprising based off who we are talking about here.
