A lot of other states should be prepared for the same. State run facilities have serious issues with staffing including the great state of Louisiana. My understanding is starting pay is around $11.40 an hour. At that rate it’s very hard to expect to get qualified applicants that will do the job.

All correctional officers have shite pay. There are cops that don't earn much more.

Quit locking up nonviolent drug offenders for long periods of time and the prison population drops drastically = need for fewer prisons and guards.

Have a friend that's an Alabama corrections officer. He gets mandated at least twice a week which makes him have 2 sixteen hour days weekly.

Well how is the private prison lobby gonna get rich then?

You don’t think about anyone but yourself, do you?

I don't know about the drug offenders, but I do think there are many crimes that have incredibly stupid jail sentences. No way a woman in her 20's should be sent to prison for have sex with a 17 or 18 year old guy or girl. Nothing in this country is dumber than that. Fire them. Ban them from teaching, but it's just asinine to lock them up.

Same goes for many accomplice prison sentences. Just stupid to lock up someone for being with someone who commits a crime. Somebody next to you killed someone; that means you killed the victim too. Absolutely stupid.

Prison guards are some of the stupidest and laziest frickers on the planet. Every single one of them that I’ve ever encountered are absolute shite. If they’re making $11.50/hour + benefits, then they’re making too much. frick those ignorant, backwoods, good for nothing pieces of shite that let their power go to their heads while they walk around thinking they're King Ding-a-Ling.
