Look, I think NOLA council is going overboard, but ITEP has been a disaster.

This guy understands what is going on (probably because he actually read the Advocate article and has some reading comprehension skill). ITEP is actually hurting NOLA. The City Council wants ITEP to go away, so when finally given the opportunity it sets standards so high that ITEP will decrease in NOLA except for high paying industries.

You are arguing with a guy who is an arrogant elitist because his wife came from money

then you didn't read it. They are offering a way to pay no property tax and their only requirement will be to pay an average of $18 / hour. All of this fake outrage is stupid.

I find it fairly pleasant, but to each his own.

They should mind their own business and not create ridiculous regulations.

It’s not a regulation, but an incentive. Show me where on the doll NOLA touched you.

With today's modern plants, companies can invest billions in capital and very little in labor (once the plant is built).

If we are exempting a billion worth of plant property from property tax, yet, the company is only paying 100 guys 30K a year, it's not a good deal for anyone except the company.

I'm all for tax incentives based on payroll. Tax incentives based on property give me a big pause.

Fwiw, I'm fine with doing away ITEP altogether.

But whenever government tells you who you can hire and how much to pay them, frick that.

It’s not telling you who you can hire and how much you can pay. It’s saying that if you pay a certain amount and you establish your business in certain areas, you will receive an incentive.

The other thing I can't believe people are missing from that article:

Helena Moreno is looking especially fine.

I don't disagree with your general description.

To me its government picking winners and losers.
I'm against that as a matter of general principle, that's all.

I agree with this, however when you set a minimum pay requirement for all positions and you have to pay an admin assistant who can barely read or follow simple instructions 18 bucks an hour, that's absurd.
