I'll pay the premium to lighten the traffic in Houston and remove the trash from the planes I ride on.

so you're saying that a sitting president can wave a magic wand from Washington DC and can influence the 90-million-barrel-a-day global oil market?
gotcha

Surely you don't deny that gasoline was about $1.80 when Obama was inaugurated and is about $3.60 now, do you?
No, those are facts..But, this is one of those rare things that you cannot solely pin on his ineptitude to run the Country..They would have risen no matter what

Actually according to this, gas has gone up 96% under OBama....
Listen, I disagree with mostly everything Obama does. But the fact of the matter is the president has almost no effect on the price of gas.
Want to know why it was so cheap in 2008 before Obama took office? We were in a damn depression.
Go back a little further than 2008. There were periods in Bush's presidency where gas reached over $4 a gallon.

He could reduce regulations for that industry and allow more drilling on US soil and offshore. I can deal with the potential for floating oil in the Gulf again, if it means me not having to work, just to pay gas.

Because Obama single handedly controls the price of a worldwide commodity.
Dummy Obama!!

Obama entered office when gasoline prices were depressed by the recession, so much of the rise is actually a sign of an improving economy. In other words, had prices not risen, it would mean the country overall was in worse shape.

Sold my reliable old gas guzzling Silverado just in time.
With oil prices that high, Louisiana and Texas would probably weather the economic shock very well.

Agreed. My bank account is more important to me than a clean environment. Sorry

His safety regulations didn't cause every oilfield related company to add billions collectively to their budget? Companies that weren't even a party to the spill? Who do you think ended up picking up the tab for that?

The only time I remember gas going beyond $4.00 per gallon under the precious administration was when Hurricaine Ike nailed Houston and SE Texas.
I remember filling up for $2.00/gallon that winter. Now $3.80 is the new norm and no one complains?
