It's 4 parcels. This one and the two strips to the east at the road and the large one in the back to the east.

Shirley J. Taylor (aka “Squirrel”) passed away at her home on Thursday, May 28, 2026, at the age of 75.

Born in Ohio, she lived with her family in Belize for a few years before moving to New Orleans in the early 1960s. A proud graduate of Warren Easton High School, she moved to Baton Rouge in the early 1970s, where she met Clark. While raising Jeffrey and countless dachshunds, she assisted Clark with the operation and management of his real estate development business. In time she moved into the real estate business herself and acquired a hotel in Belize which she managed for a number of years. Squirrel never met a slot machine that she didn’t like, and trips to Las Vegas were among her favorite memories. She had a spark and a zest for life that endeared her to many.

There is nothing but woods between it and I-12/Ochsner hospital. If you zoom in w Google maps, there are a few well maintained dirt roads all back there.

Whoever is in the MAH Family Trust owns 843 acres behind that neighborhood and the hospital.

That's Shirley J, not Shirley D

I found a Shirley D who once worked for Entergy. The Entergy connection would make sense since many Gulf States guys retired in that area and Strain Road.

The survived by stuff I took out matched the family friend stuff from a prior post. And she was married to Clark Taylor whose brother was Jim Taylor that somebody else mentioned.

As someone else mentioned, some big deer have been taken on that property.

Sounds like a life well lived for ole Shirley. RIP.

It’s pretty awesome in an odd sort of way. Looks like a vacation resort or something.

Look at pic 35 too. Why TF is the bathtub on display in the little living room space (with tons of carpet everywhere) instead of the massive actual bathroom

For fun.

Depending on how much of that acreage is buildable, it could be an amazing price with developers lining up to bulldoze this and put up a subdivision.
