no

Yes I was once young and stupid and arrested for simple possession of narcotics. But that has since been removed from my record over the last decade.... what does that have to do with NLa being a terrible place for a college aged person to live, hell any aged person?

I'd be disappointed if he didn't go there.

I've never been a fan of Louisville, but I can see that Petrino is making Thursday nights a real hoot.

Unless LSU doesn't have his major I don't see why he would want to go to ULL. Also, if he goes to LSU he can still live with you for a couple semesters and save money. Not the most ideal situation for a college freshman but.

My husband and I both got our bachelor's degree from ULL & I think we have a lot going for us because of our undergrad education. He has a masters from La Tech and I'm finishing up my clinical doctorate from LSU.

Just for the record..... My ULL experience was MUCH better than LSU. LSU is an unorganized mess, but Geaux Tigers :)

Would depend on what degree he was pursuing as to where I would 'send' him.

I would let him make his decision unless it was a place that wasnt affordable.

Why do you prefer LSU?

Louisville is a long way from here. LSU is a lot closer.

Do people really believe this nonsense? Neither of these schools are Harvard. If you aren't successful and you graduated from either of these schools your ambition is to blame, rather than the school name on your degree.

My experience with ULL, 2 of my best friends went there and neither graduated from there. I had a hell of a time going to party with them but after year 2 they were both done with school. 1 ended up graduating from SLU the other never went back.

Well if this great advice doesnt tip the scale ,for the OP, in favor of one or the other than nothing does .

I got out of the military and i had a choice between the two schools you mentioned. all my family lived in lafayette so i decided on ULL. I wanted my degree in computer science/information systems and ULL's was pretty good . I got my degree and currently have a good tech job so no complaints. Had it not been for traveling that basin bridge daily i may have went to LSU.

Yes to LSU.

No to USL. That was a rule in Scruffy's household. Too close to home.

Depends on how many cargo shorts your son owns.

It all depends on what he wants to study. If it's computer science, definitely send him to ULL. There's nothing wrong with your kid wanting to go to school away from mom and dad. Lafayette is a safe city with plenty to do that's still close enough for him to come home some weekends to do laundry and get home cooking. He won't be bored there.

If he wants to do another STEM major, design major, or journalism, though, LSU is probably a better school and overall experience.

If he wants to major in history, education, or some other liberal arts major, it doesn't matter where he goes, he'll be unemployed anyways, so let him go where he wants.

Nobody gonna argue with your claim on this one.

My favorite is when a celebrity is considered smart because they went to an ivy league school and graduated . Well what did they get their degree in ? liberal arts
