More money w/6 weeks.

There aren't that many horse shows to need time off for and that money can go back into the horses

If we're talking making like $40k vs $70k, I'm taking the money.

$150k vs $180k? I'm definitely taking the vacation.

I don't think anyone making $245K is working nights other than an on call doctor.

If I wanted 17 weeks off, I'd have been a teacher.

Definitely depends on the starting salary.

I think a percentage would have made this more interesting

Depends on circumstances and arrangement of the weeks. If financially secure, sound job security, relatively stable earnings potential in the job, and nothing like kids holding me back, I'd take the lower end. Could do 3-4 weeks of travel per year pretty easily like that if the employer would give you that flexibility. If you have a family situation holding you back, or you are trying to catch up on financial goals, I could see going for the money.

I think time off would allow for football season to be more manageable when you are stuck in Texas.

I will keep what I got. I earn 10 hours of PTO every 2 weeks with mandatory paid holidays and floating holidays as well.

Right now I am sitting on a bank of 300 hours (7.5 weeks) of PTO. I strategically use my floating holidays around mandatory holidays so I end up with 4 and 5 day weekends quite often. Doing this I can get around 3-4 weeks off without ever even dipping into my PTO. My PTO cap is 2.5 times my PTO earned in one year so I won't cap out on PTO until I hit 650 hours.

Obviously different strokes but I'd have my sights set on Peru and Thailand instead of worrying about driving in to watch a coonass coach a medicore football team of amateurs.

If I was on salary for 215 there's no way I'd work 11 extra weeks (that's basically 3 freaking months) for 30k more. Heck you could find a side gig for some of that to make up some pay. I'd be a part time fishing guide or something with 17 weeks off, that's absurd.
