Link?
Many of them study the arts. Hell there are some with PHDs and some MENSA members.
Musicians, actors, athletes, each profession has it idiots and each has some people that are extremely intelligent.
I would bet that percentage wise there are A LOT more dumb athletes than dumb musicians or actors.

Musican
Actors are strange. Anyone that takes drama has issues.
Athletes are pawns

Famous? None of them OJ Simpson and Taylor swift are famous but it doesn't correlate to talent.
Now successful? I'd rather be a successful actor bc you can work pretty much until you die...see Betty White.
An athlete has a short shelf life and musicians usually lose their hearing.

First, we said "famous actors." Second, "been to college" isn't some absolutely qualifying factor in determining intelligence, though I'd bet most top actors have studied at a University

I'd be dead pretty quick if I was a musician
Athlete would ruin the joy of watching your favorite sports teams
So actor

Musician. Actors are predominately assholes, and athletes are predominately black.

Ask John Travolta what actors lose.

I have actually pondered this dilemma IRL - except I threw writer into the equation for good measure.

Since when does degree=intelligence?

I was an actor of sorts for like two years and it was great but kinda dark. Characters live in your head.
I left it for a similar reason. I was asked to play a Nazi part. the character was very animated, a giant (big gestures/sound) neo-Hitler. I felt like I would have to become that monster to play the part. I walked.
It reminds me that I have taken against some actor for a part he played. Dean Martin.

I can't think of a better job than being a world class pro golfer. Travel the world, make ridiculous money, really don't get that much scrutiny when you have a bad day unless you're Tiger, can pick and choose when/where you play, can play well into old age at a high level(hell win the Masters once and you can play in your 50's; all else fails there is another tour just for people too old to compete)

I'm not sure about the easier work part. If you're good, it's a hell of a lot of work.

I wouldn't want to be any of these things. But if I had to choose...musician.

The top dogs make $25-$60 million for six months work just doing what they do
They don't work 6 months on a film. I'm somewhat in the business. They're on set for maybe 6-8 weeks, max. And that's if they're basically in 80% of the live takes. But the money is pretty close. The last film I was involved in, the A List lead man got $32m up front, plus some back end action. He's doing 2-3 films per year at about that rate, and he only works maybe half time.
Plus, he will make nearly that much in residuals (DVD, Netflix, etc). For instance, he told me that he was in a film 4 years ago that was a big hit and took in $450m box office. And that he got $18m for his starring role, and that his residuals so far had been $15m.
He also told me that before it's over, Bradley Cooper will take in $100m from American Sniper because it grossed $1b at the box office and it's DVD and Netflix numbers are off the charts.
Musicians aren't making anything like that kind of money. Crazy popular bands are doing full albums, and touring 150 nights a year and grossing $25m these days. And that's the whole band, before expenses.
