I say let them learn how now so they will not be depending on a man all their life.

Neighbor has a 14 year old daughter who is small and skinny. Once a week she's out there mowing the lawn, struggling to push around a huge mower. If you owned a house with a lawn, would you make your 14 year old daughter mow the lawn as part of the weekly chores? Seems a little extreme to me. Maybe at 18, if she's still at home, but 14 seems young. Now, a son...yeah absolutely.

Americans are such pansies asses, and here's why.

Before she drives, my son and daughter will have to demonstrate changing a flat tire, checking engine fluids, and properly fueling and automobile.

I will never forget that miserable, hot, humid July day that my dad made me change a tire before he took me to get my license. I had to know how to check the water and oil as well. And keep some kind of tape and a jug of water in the car at all times.

I am thankful to this day for that.

Absolutely. But on the garden tractor. I don't even own a stupid push mower.

I started cutting the grass at 6. I weighed 50 lbs. She has to weigh more than 50 lbs. I say yes. If I did it she can do it.

My daughter was mowing the yard when she was 14, but she wanted to. I have a zero turn though, not a push mower.

I don't see why not. I mowed the lawn (push mower) when I was 14. It's really not that big of a deal.

frick no, if she was small that would be ridiculous. If she was a normal girl size then she could. I mowed when I was 9-10 and probably weighed 80 pounds

Absolutely.

Every girl should know how to work a mower. I know women who were never shown and now they are helpless ab the yard.

At 14 I was edging, mowing, weedeating. Life skillz.

My 14 year old daughter mows the lawn while I edge and weed eat. The mower is self-propelled.

No, I wouldn't.

That's my personal time to reflect and sun bathe.

I would not/did not, and is interested of the opinions from other dad's, especially from dads whose only child was a daughter.

I raised mine to have certain expectations of men, and that hard working guys wouldn't dream of making a woman in their lives to things like yard work. If they (she) wants to do it, fine, but they shouldn't be made to do it.

Sure she was made to do it, and wasn't doing it for the core work?

If she was a normal, healthy girl then yes.

My father in law had three girls first. He had various businesses that caused him to be gone all day. They all did the yard work.

My wife has a garden that she maintains without my assistance.

Now, since we've been married my wife has never cut the grass because that's my thing, but if I absolutely couldn't I know that she could.

When my daughter is old enough ill teach her, and she'll help me maintain the yard some, (picking up sticks and such.)

I plan to teach my daughter how to do all the "manly" things, because I don't want her at the mercy of men.

If I don't have a son, hell yes my daughter will be mowing the yard.

Push lawnmower too. I don't believe in riding lawnmowers.

Why else do people have kids if you don't make them do all the chores?

I have a daughter younger than 14, she has to cut the grass 3 times each summer, just so she knows how to.
