Girls need to know how to mow grass, too. Given the size of my yard, it wouldn't be a push mower, but a riding mower instead.

No, he had 2 girls and 2 boys.

It was part of our chores to earn our allowance. I didn't mind doing it. By learning how to do it on my parent's yard....I was able to use that skill to earn extra cash as a teenager before I was old enough to get a real part time job.

Why not? Maybe she gets paid for chores( aka an allowance) and she wants to mow.

I knew a couple that as a punishment made their 14 year old daughter trim all the way around the bottom of the walls of their house (where you might normally use a weed eater) with a pair of scissors.

Would I? No.

Have I in the past? Yes. (I don't have a 14-year old daughter any longer.)

Didn't read the thread. The rule in our family is that you can get mow the lawn (and get paid for it) when you weigh 100+ pounds. Gender is not relevant.

Maybe she likes doing it. Anyway, hard work builds character in kids. That is waaaay better than letting her lay about watching the tv or playing facebook games.

I was never made to cut the grass, but I always did indoor chores (dishes, laundry, cleaning bathrooms and bedrooms).

I'm not allowed to do the laundry. Or make the beds.

I will however clean the kitchen and load the dishwasher. I'm pretty picky about that.

I don't fck with bathrooms or floors. That's what we pay the housekeeper once a week to do.
