Well our criteria for fever is greater than 100.4
And considering what is happening right now....people should stay the frick home if they are having temps greater than 100.4

I didn’t know you, Oweo and Fr33 were doctors. Sounds like the OT was the perfect place to ask this question. I always thought Oweo stayed home and collected a disability check and that Fr33 was a gay aspiring poet. Glad I came here n
You asked the question. You are the fricking moron who is asking if your 5 year old should go play a youth game with a low grade fever. I am not pretending to be a doctor at all.. But I do like to think I have some common sense. Which obviously you don't have..
But hey.. Take her to the game. What's more important? Her playing a game that has absolutely no meaning or risk getting her sicker?
Oh and the best thing about it is that.. She might be carrying something she could pass on to other kids.. But hey.. That doesn't matter to you. frick it if your daughter gets sicker and other kids get sick.. You don't want to waste an opportunity for your 5 year old to ball out.
Poor kid. I guess she will be forced into playing travel softball as well, when the time comes, right?
But again, if you don't want people to give you a common sense answer. Then don't ask the fricking question.

Nurse, do you ever deal with Geographic tongue? I had never heard of it before but my daughter has that also. Every time it flairs up, it is a guarantee she is about to cone down with something. This has nothing to do with my OP but it’s just not something I know much about. It does cause one of her lymph nodes to stay enlarged at all times.

Well if it is currently flaring up (you spelled flair wrong.. Its flare) and it is guaranteed she will come down with something. Sounds like another reason to take her to that game.

Are you ok man? It’s gonna be alright, just hang in there. Read the thread before you go spouting off about something you know nothing about.
There is no game today after being cancelled and I had already informed the coach before that telling them she won’t be playing. I chose to keep her home even though she was cleared to play by the doctor.

Take her to what game? And I didn’t say her tongue was flaring up today. Anything else Doctor Chris?

I'd be ok if baseball or softball.
Not exactly lots of exertion.
Basketball or Soccer.
Nope

Here's what we do with our kids. This is based on advice from our pediatrician.
98.6 and below - no restrictions.
98.7 - 100.0 - watch her. If she is acting fine, no restrictions. If she is acting tired or sluggish or moody or otherwise not herself, then some illness is probably starting, so we keep her home.
100.1 and above - Test with two different thermometers. If it's that high, tylenol / motrin and check again at the end of 4/6 hours. If it stays back below 100 for 12 hours with no medicine impact, then back to the procedures as above.
Fevers don't just happen, they are a symptom of something else occuring.

102, no. A little over 99 and they want to play definitely.
Posted on 3/7/20 at 11:38 am to LSUFanHouston
Except 99 is not a fever.
Its just a higher body temperature.
My sons average body temperature was between 98.9 to 99.3

I’m certain she did run fever last night because I would think if something was wrong with the thermometer, it would not show a higher temperature. Probably would show a lower temperature if that’s the case.
But it’s not an issue anymore since she didn’t go play. We have 3 different thermometers and none of them show the same temperature. We go with the thermometer that reads the highest temp out of the 3.

Why not just average them out?
Posted on 3/7/20 at 11:46 am to OweO
Averaging would show a lower number. If one shows 104 and the others show 97, then I would rather be on the safe side and treat it like it’s 104 just incase.

Oh good, you're one of those.

Meh, what's the worst that could happen? What good sports father wouldn't put his child's life at risk for a baseball game? If the little slugger succumbs, at least you'll know skies are always blue and the bleachers are always packed every game day in her little forever home. (Comes with team mascot to keep your little prospect company, "the Fever Fanatic")

Overreact much....

Don’t go there. I’m not one of those panic people. Just use common sense. Don’t panic. People should always be staying home and not going to school or work if they have a fever greater than 100.4.
