That’s an interesting philosophy

Probably the craziest thing the kid would see is the offspring of all these "conservative" polticians and public figures going to Ivy schools, hanging out with the the liberal scions, seeing all their parents mix at the Hamptons or regattas.

The downtalk of what wrong on Ivy schools sure doesn't seem to apply to the conservative parents who are all trying their best to get their kids in.

Speaking of Philosophy, Pragmatism.

To answer your question, that’s what I would use.

Start with outcome desired, the long view
From my own experience, the school brand nor ideologies were nearly as important in comparison to who I was at 18yo.

State school or not, work hard, lead others with great care and be curious and good chit happens.

Yeah and there really is no pre-law, to get into law school they take your gpa and add your lsat etc. they don’t typically care what your major is as long as your lsat is good

I’d like to see the proportion of kids with two parents and a breakdown by culture for Ivy versus non-Ivy to see if that graph is anything more than a way to sell a story

Unsurprisingly, you didn’t understand what I was saying and the terms I was using.

The premium on an Ivy League degree is seven figures - probably well into the seven figures - in real dollars. That is, the incremental value that one gets from such an investment vis a vis a regular post-secondary education from a regular school (like the vast, vast majority of state schools) is at least seven figures in real dollars over the course of a lifetime.

If a kid has real ambition and / or talent, they’d be stupid to turn that opportunity down.

And vanishingly few people are earning seven figures 10 years into their careers, much less engineering grads from state schools. Like less than 0.1% or 0.01%.
