When I was 19, I worked as an area supervisor for a large Wendy's franchise. The hours were long, but it paid well and the other four area managers were all under age 21. The company President was 29. I had a large area in West Texas. In those days, Wendy's was the "hot" place for high school and college girls to work and there were plenty of good looking girls in each store. Most of the managers of the individual stores were young, 18 or 19, and they'd hook up with the h.s. Seniors or college girls working at the stores.

I had a good time, in spite of the hours. The crews were competent and fun crews. You had a better class of customers and employees back then.

I can only imagine how shitty that same job would be today.

Is this in the contemplative phase? Cause you can't really "purchase" a Chicfila.

My FIL manages a Chick Fil A in BR. He makes good money. He’s in the process of interviewing for his own restaurant. I believe this is his 4th time going through it and it’s the furthest he’s made it along. You just list off places that’d you’d be willing to relocate to and it’s a waiting game. If they call you and tell you that you’re getting a place halfway across the country then you’ve got 2 weeks to pack up and be there. It’s a pretty lengthy and difficult process.

I am betting that salary is for the GM or the one or two Managers. Most of the moles working there as “managers” are likely Shift Managers and make much less. That is the position you would probably hire in at.

I know someone who worked her way up in Chick-fil-a, and they eventually gave her a franchise when she was in her mid 20's. She was basically the Wolf from Pulp Fiction for Chick-fil-a. She would fly in to locations that were having problems and clean house.

But yeah, you're not going to just buy one, build it and sit back and collect the money. They have owner operators. You work up there full time, and Chick-fil-a keeps the lion's share of the profits.

Plus you better be on fire for Jesus and be able to prove it. I'm not just being snarky either, it's a real requirement.

Some years ago, I was thinking about trying to get into fast-food management. I talked to a woman at the time who said she and her husband both were managers at Burger King. I asked her what the hardest part of her job was and she said it was getting the employees to show up for their shifts, and also retaining good workers (which didn't surprise me).

they would have to have an extremely lucrative benefits/bonus/retirement plan, and of course, annual raises, because if you divided that into the hours worked, I'd bet their employees would be making more per hour

That seems like a very bad idea. What the hell does someone at that age know about management? Zero.

if that 21 year old is a motivated college student, odds are pretty good that they're pretty able to do it, I used to own a dry cleaners, paid more than the competition, charged more than the competition, and grossed more than most in the area, best employees were college students, motivated, disciplined, and goal oriented, down side was they eventually graduated , got out of it because of being unable to find decent, dependable employees, although I was grossing close to $300k/yr. that, and having to deal with the little punkass bitches like the guy that started a thread a couple of days ago about the fit he threw because he couldn't get same day service due to higher than normal workload backups

No sir...if one of your employees doesn't show up (which is common), you have to basically fill in his shift.

This is another reason why I haven't done it.

Which tells me why you shouldnt't be going into business, unless you are willing to work. Before I finally broke thru, I worked 2 jobs totaling 100-120 hrs per week for several years. If you have no care to work hard, don't own your business. I'm not being mean, just letting you know the facts. Many people told me not to go into business but eventually I found out how to set it up and went after it. Meaning WORKED several years before I even quit my full time job. WORK..........

All these are reasons why I haven’t gone into business. At this stage in my life I’m aiming towards working less.

When you talked to Chic Fil A was it cheaper per store to open more than one store?

How much do they charge you to get started?
