With all the increases/upgrades, it sounds like they're slowly fine tuning it back into the 1500 level truck, maybe slightly smaller body. People bought these smaller trucks because they wanted a smaller vehicle that was also a truck. Now they're slowly and incrementally beefing the truck up and hyping people up to have bigger trucks again. Somewhat comical.
The mid sized trucks today are almost the size of full sized trucks 25 years ago.
And I like the trucks in the OP a lot. Perfect size for 90% of truck buyers.

Great looking truck. If it were 15K cheaper, absolutely.
I had an '04 Colorado for 13 years. The transmission finally gave out 800 miles shy of 300K. It was the best vehicle that I have ever had. Bar none. I miss that truck everyday.
Like A Rock.

Sharp looking truck. What kind of motor is in this thing? V6 or turbo'd 4cyl?
It says it has the 2.7L turbo from the Silverado. Up to 310 horsepower, 430 lb ft.

Since it probably won't burn my house down sure

It’s a Baby Silverado.
Can’t wait to pay $5k over an already overpriced MSRP.
But seriously, that ZR2 is bad but likely gonna push $55k

It looks like a solid ride. I went with a Tacoma, but I did that for three reasons:
1. Truck is damned near bullet proof and I want it to last a LONG while
2. I like the looks of it.
3. I cannot bring myself to own another Chevy product. I had a Trailblazer and it was an absolute turd with so many electrical boogey men it was ridiculous.

They did a good job with this thing.

I like it more than I like the Silverado. Or any full sized truck.

Okay now that I don't like. They should add in the 6.5' box again even if they keep the crew cab requirement.

That thing is bigger than a full size z71 was 20 years ago

The 1996 Ford F-150 was 79" wide.
The 2023 Chevy Colorado is about 84" wide....but that might be the ZR2 version with the bulgy fenders. I think the regular version is about 77" wide.
It's damn close to a full sized truck from 25 years back. Maybe slightly larger.

I love the size of the early 2000's Dodge Dakota. We wouldn't mind a new pickup now but between the prices and the size, we'll just stick with our 2002 Dakota Crew Cab that we bought new. Still doing work for camping and exploring.

Unless you just want a smaller truck, these things don't make any sense.
I'm not a full sized dude so I don't need a full sized truck. I'd drive it.

I’ve never seen a manufacturer try to ugly up a truck the way GM does. And frick a small/compact truck.

why does it only have 2 AC vents? Tacoma has 4.
seems like 4 should be minimum for most vehicles. Gotta have air blowing in the middle in these 100 degree summers

No, even Ford is laughing at GM right now.

I’ve only ever owned one truck: my 1999 F250 SD PS short bed. I was looking at F150s a couple years ago and learned that short bed is no longer 6.5ft in modern truck parlance. It was like I was speaking a foreign language with the dealer. I just didn’t want 8’ bed. Normal short bed. And not freaking 5’. What am I going to do with that?
Right, that makes sense to me. At what point does it become less that it's a truck I can actually use as a truck and that it's just aesthetic.
But another poster made the good point that trucks with a normal sized bed has been super sized to the point that they're tanks. And I'm not a fan of that either.
