One has a reputation for failure because of a shitty radiator design.

What exactly happened there? A friend of mine's 2008 Frontier had that problem. Nissan was not very helpful in resolving it. It was pretty expensive to repair if I remember.

Transmission fluid just get contaminated with water/coolant because they use the same radiator?

If you need a 3rd row seat, SR5 and Limited are the only options. The 3rd row kills the storage volume in the GX and I assume the same is true for the 4R.

The Pros are horribly over priced. $10k for the package and $5k-$10k markup. Buy the OR and spend a fraction of the difference on Pro takeoff rims and parts.

The GX460, underneath the ugly Lexus grill, is a full-time 4WD 4Runner with a 4.6L V8. LC Prado elsewhere.
went to get a 4runner and got this instead. Launches the boat just fine

price on 4Runners has gotten quite high with dealers adding “market adjustments” on top of sticker. Whereas Lexus will run incentives on the GX. We purchased a new GX a few years ago for $5k more than my 4Runner
this is why. Now I get luxury service and warranty as well as a smoother ride with heated and cooled seats

Yes. In that market, the LX is not doing as well as it should. Cars like the Range Rover, Escalade, Denali, and Navigator are completely out classing it.

As they should. The LX is a dinosaur vs the competition. Toyota hasn’t figured out that the LX buyer is very different than the LC buyer either. A new LC buyer isn’t cross shopping a Range Rover and doesn’t see the LX as a better/upgraded version of the LC.

Cadillac and GMC dealers around here seemed to have a hell of a waiting list for the new Escalades and Denali. They seem to be everywhere now. I rarely see 200-series LXs.

My wife (no pics) has a 2015 Limited and I think its garbage. Very low technology on the inside. The touch screen navigation is like a 2004 Garmin. It drives like a golf cart and has no power.

We will not buy another Toyota product.

Wife and 23 year old son have 4runners. 18 year old daughter has a Camry. I drive a Tacoma.

4Runner is a solid off road rig.

Some things are more of a target than others.
In 2007 Channon Gail Christian, aged 21, and Hugh Christopher Newsom Jr., aged 23, were from Knoxville, Tennessee. They were kidnapped by five savages on the evening of January 6, 2007, when Christian's Toyota 4Runner was carjacked, and Newsom's present Chevy Silverado was not carjacked. The couple were taken to a rental house, and put through living H_ll by the carjacking animals.
So, I'd think twice about getting a 4Runner.

I test drove it. Very stiff steering and rattled like a tin can on the interstate.

Something good about it is actually the lack of fancy tech. It makes it timeless while giving it less to break.

They are fine toys or everyday vehicles for those that don’t drive all day or have long commutes.

That being said, it’s a solid vehicle and one of the few still completely manufactured in Japan.

I have a second baby on the way so I made the dad decision and bought the 21 Highlander XLE and it is luxurious

90% sure it had the 5.7, which is definitely a sturdy motor. The problems that motor has/had were known and worked out years ago.

It was a 2007 tundra with the 4.7. I’ll give you it wasn’t the most efficient motor, but reliability was one of its strongest attributes. It was arguably one of the more reliable Toyota motors ever made.

We have a TRD Off Road Premium. Great vehicle but stay away from white. Lots of chips and it’s only a few months old. A lot of white owners have had issues with paint quality.

The problem with the Tundra is that it's fricking massive like all other full sized trucks. It's difficult to park in an urban area and even more difficult to drive off road because of its size. It also doesn't have locking diffs like the 4Runner, but they did start using some really good limited slip differentials in the Tundras 5-6 years ago.

4Runner fits in any garage with all of my other shite. The Tundra would have to get parked outside.

In to defend the Tundra's parking prowess, I am on #3, and up until September of last year, I was driving and parking in Atlanta 5 days a week with it. Once they added the backup camera, parking it is stupid simple, frankly. My 2010 sat higher than my 2015, and I had to go to the Coca Cola building, and I was worried about that parking deck, but some dude in a Suburban rolled in, so I followed... it fit. Parking decks at all 3 places I have worked haven't been an issue. It feels like you are gonna smack the ceiling, and your antenna might wobble... but if you don't lift it, it will fit in any garage I have been in.

I love the simplicity of it. The only downside is that it draaaankkks gas like there is no tomorrow.

I was saying that I would take an off road over any other trim level. If money wasn't an option I'd have a pro

I like the 4runner. I just can’t afford the note unless I finance for like 120 months.
