Absolutely.

My first vehicle was an 83 C10 with a straight 6 and 3 on the tree.

That does look good. I prefer the square bodies, but that's a close second in my book.

I also like the 2015/2016 models too.

That truck will last you forever, as long as you care for the body like previous owners. And, none of the electronic crap to break, like the newer ones.

Gtfo. You were lucky to get 100k on a truck like that without having to do something major like rebuild or change the engine or transmission.

Should it bind up, I have a crow bar and a mallet that can fix the gear linkage on that truck.

Not really true, and that's coming from someone who has owned several trucks from that era. The small blocks were very stout just like they are today. The inline 6 motors were also simple and sturdy.

That said...there was a lower standard as to what defined a good vehicle back then. This truck was one of the best of the time. But they did see rust and corrosion far more often than the newer ones did.

Square body trucks are pretty hot right now. Gaining in value everyday. That is a very clean example. If it were a SWB, it would be more valuable.

The C/K was continued until 1999, when the Silverado came to market.

That’s flat out wrong. The Silverado, as a trim level at least, was available in the early 80’s. I rode in one almost daily. Black with silver inset panels and black interior. Would love to have that back.

I would drive the hell out of that truck. Aftermarket stereo for hooking up my iPod and we're good to go.

My pawpaw had an 81 custom deluxe burnt orange and cream with a 454. I loved that truck. There’s something about the sound a carburetor engine makes that will always put a smile on my face. One day I’ll have a square body

You know it.

My grandfather left me the same color powder blue color 78 GMC Sierra. He had the engine tuned where it ran smooth and just repainted the truck.

Great little truck back in the day.
