I bet if there was some pussy at the end of this rainbow, half of you would already be on the road.

Some things you can’t put a price on.....

Now that I am retired with time on my hands it sounds like fun. a road trip, passing interesting road side eats etc. and saving 300 would be a good excuse to go. As I read this I was thinking about where. West through Cajun boudin country? east along the coast? etc etc. When my time was more valuable prolly not. Now I would weigh the location and drive and interest in to it. probably do it.

I like driving, and I like road trips. Why not

Depends on the location. Stay the weekend and have fun blowing that $300 you saved.

Pussy has a price baw..some costs a 6 pack or bag of dope. Most is usually under $1000.
..but if you want the best and hottest, the price of the pussy is power.

If you make more than ~$40/hour, it would be foolish to give up earning $40+ REAL dollars to avoid spending $40/hour (keeping $300 already in your pocket). Go earn $320 in a day, spend the $300 extra to buy the widget and you’re still in the black.

Is he taking off work to make the drive?

then its not driving 3.5 hours, its driving 7 hours plus at minimum 3 hours at dealership to do the transaction assuming you just walk in and buy it so thats 10 hours of your day (if you dont stop to eat) vs $300 savings plus the uber driver cost to get there and a full tank of gas to get back
i drove from new orleans to houston to buy a specifically equipt used vehicle in a specific year model with the specific engine and color i wanted, and i regretted doing it after, but it was the only way to get exactly what i wanted so it was necessary in my mind.
all i can say it it better be your dream car exactly what you want and no other way to get it

He’s either taking time from work or his free time. If he’s taking away from his free time, I’d say the cost of saving $300 is even higher than forgoing work, but I value my time off more than my work.
Transportation costs alone makes it barely break even as it is, I’d put a higher value on my time than netting about $50 for sitting in a car for 7 hours.

If you need the money yes. If it isn't much of a financial hit then no.
There was a time I would have done it and now I wouldn't think about it. Don't let the OT Millionaires talk you out of it if you need the cash.

If he ‘needs’ $300, then the decision should be don’t buy at all.
If he thinks he is saving money by spending time & money driving 7 hours, he needs to check his math and/or he doesn’t value his free time enough.
Leveraging a local seller for a discount would be the best solution if he’s going to buy anyway.

I think it'd depend on the cost of the item, even though it's still the same savings. I wouldn't drive from Atlanta to Valdosta to buy a $2k item for 1700, I would consider doing it to get a $300 item for free

Once again, if he needs the money it is clearly more important than leisure time.
He definitely needs to do the math on travel expenses and wear and tear on his car.
Once again, I wouldn't do it now but I have been in a place where netting a couple hundred, I would have taken the trip. You can thank your deity if you've never been in that position.

Gas cost for a 7 hour drive.....not much savings there after figuring that
Posted on 1/30/20 at 2:04 pm to deeprig9
If I was going to do something else on this trip, like visit a friend or attend an event or get something I can't get at home, sure.
Simply to save $300, probably not, considering gas, meals, time, etc.
