Somewhere on this planet there is probably a human clone.
Would you clone yourself, a loved one or maybe the family pet?

If we ever won a massive lottery I really think my husband would clone his dog. He's commented before he totally would and I don't think he was joking

It's 100k to clone your pet btw.

This is a stupid thought. It would only "look" like your old dog.
It wouldnt be the same dog with its personality, habits, temperament, etc.

It would be a different dog

Point is, just breed your dog and raise a puppy. Thats the best way to sace the memory of your pet.

It would be a lot more like your old dog than you think. All of those things that you listed are largely genetically determined.

I've tried using this same argument with my husband.

He doesn't care..he would still clone his dog if we had "frick you" money at our disposal.

If it looked like the original why wouldn't it have the same personality

I’m not sure that I could live with the constant fear that some dickless copy of myself is out there plotting his revenge.

Unless someone perfects artificial aging for the clones, you’ll be waiting a long time or be fricking children.

We aren't our DNA, we are our memory, ie our collection of experiences. When we get the ability to transfer memory then this can become a thing, otherwise it's just mini-me or growing a twin.

When we get that memory transfer is when things get interesting. Do you share a life with multiple yous or just have a clone sitting in a stasis chamber somewhere waiting as your backup? Would you transfer your consciousness to a random body if it was the only way you could afford to come back? If these questions interest you a lot of these issues are touched on in Altered Carbon on Netflix.

No. Cloning is just an alternative method of reproduction. Nurture shapes personalities as much or more than nature.

I'd clone myself so I could harvest organs later, like in that creepy Island movie with ScarJo and Ewan McGregor.
