Ah so you do see the usefulness of it for the responsible drivers on the road.

Never said I didn't. My original comment, that you responded to, was a response to a Highway safety study on reduction of rear end collisions.

That said; if you are in one of the scenarios that you posed, where you hit someone because they slammed their brakes, you're following too close and are not a responsible driver.

I'd pay extra to not have that shite.

I want:

AC
Cruise
ABS
Bluetooth
Power locks
Power windows
Power mirrors

Mine also, and it liked to have gotten us flattened on the interstate one day when it locked the brakes up to avoid hitting a plastic grocery bag that was blowing across our lane. Thank God the truck behind us was able to get over because he would have hit us.

I went many years driving cars without those features.

I upgraded to a recent model a few years back and the lane correction drives me nuts.

Unfortunately I live in a crappy city so there's many spots where old faded lane lines are right next to the newly painted lines, or has temporary lanes for construction. Car would try to adjust me INTO traffic or collision.

Disabled that with the quickness.

Then 2 years ago, my dealership was desperate for trade-ins so I upgraded because a prick scratched my car. Same model, newer year.

The new one won't let me disable it how I did last time. Haven't really spent the time to really dig in but hopefully there's still a way to disable it somehow.

It also hard braked on me on the highway when nothing was infront of me for miles. Luckily the guy behind me reacted in time.

This stuff is going to get people hurt or killed.

I have a 2020 f-150 and have disabled everything you mentioned. I do use and like the remote start. Turned all that ridiculous other crap off the day I drove it home

Must haves

Pushbutton start - frick a damn key
Heated seats
Nice audio
......end of list

One of my pet peeves is signs and warnings everywhere you go. Lawyers and sue happy people have just made an abomination of our beautiful landscape. Don't give me all that crap in my vehicle, I can go, stop, and keep it between the lines. Everything else is too much sugar for a nickel. If I want to open my door while backing up then dammit don't stop me.

Adaptive cruise is stupid

Wrong. If you drive in bumper to bumper stop and go traffic daily like most everybody that lives in big city in Texas or Baton Rouge, Adaptive Cruise is a game changer. Or if you spend a lot of time on the Interstate it is great.

I drive daily in bumper to bumper down I-35 and nothing beats never having to touch the gas or brake pedal. The adaptive cruise does a better job controlling the vehicle in stop and go traffic then most drivers do.

I want it on every vehicle from now on out. I'm actually waiting on some of the newer trucks to get a little older so I can upgrade to one with Adaptive Cruise. I don't care so much about lane assist but they now come packaged together. Adaptive cruise is the first thing I look for when searching for a new truck.

Hell, I don't even want the automatic tranny

Hell, I could live with rolling up my windows like I used to do. No $100 motor to replace when it goes.

Hate all that crap on my wife’s car

I like:
Parking sensors (saved me a few times)
Blind spot sensor
Push start (not having to take keys out my pocket)

Too bad it will have that computerized shift-by-wire, mall cruiser automatic transmission instead of three pedals like it should.

Automatics make much more sense crawling offroad.

Pre-collision braking - Must have IMO. Adds a lot of value and safety.
Adaptive cruise control - nice to have/convenience feature IMO.
Lane departure warning - Must have IMO
High beam assist - auto dimmer? If so it’s a nice to have.
Speed limit detection - nice to have

Heads up on any vehicle with eyesight technology that’s located behind windshield. When you replace the windshield, it will likely come with an extra charge to “recalibrate” the system. Insurance companies are not allowing people to opt out of this just because. I ran into this for the first time last year

It makes the long freeway slogs easier. Drivers can reduce fatigue without reducing windshield time.

I really like it. But I have never tested it in stop and go traffic.

I think every car should come with pre collision breaking and lane centering. Too many of you pay more attention to your cell phones than the cars around you.

Learned to drive in Granpa's F-100 with 3 on the tree and a hole in the floor board where his heel wore through the sheet metal.
No a/c.
No power windows.
Wish I had that truck today, I would drive it everyday, it had side vent windows.
Too much technology on these new fru fru cars and trucks.
If you really know how to drive you don't need all that crap.
A good sound system is nice though.

Yep. A whole lot of expensive bullsh**.

My adaptive cruise is on the fritz. I can either pay a german company over $1000 to get it fixed or not.

I choose the second.
