Your last anecdote showed that you are subpar when it comes to sales.
No it doesn’t. Just means I know when I’m peddling bullshite and when I’m not. Ended up 125% to quota for that product. If you know you’re peddling bullshite and sell it anyway, that makes you a better salesman.

He clearly has no idea what he’s talking about. In medical device, relationships are important but credibility is my biggest asset. I know my data, my competitors data just as well, and I also know when to be honest and say my product may not be the best option, even to the detriment of my sales. That goes a LONG way with physicians and nurses, and I prefer to share the evidence. Yes, they’re smart enough to read it but usually they’re not interested in being bogged down with books of white papers; so if I have great credibility they’re going to listen to my summary of that white paper and trust that I’m going to tell them the honest truth, again, even if it’s not to use my product.

Exactly. In medical device that is the fricking key. It’s about your relationships. Like I don’t know the ins and outs of my competition? That I bought what my company told me? A knowledgeable doctor will call you out on your bullshite if you are truly selling snake oil. They can’t keep that a secret from the reps. If you don’t know the ins and outs of your competition, then you are a shitty salesperson.

And by the way, even to this day in a different industry, I don’t diss my competition unless that competition is truly abysmal and will directly hurt the person’s business. Chances are there’s at least something your competition does better than you and you need to fairly address it because there’s something you likely do better than them too. Like with that product I referred to, I told the doctors to sign their lower income patients with our competition and give their higher income patients our product. The true sign of a snake oil salesman is blindly dismissing anything your competition does for your customer.

You’re clearly not in sales dude. The clear sign of a snake oil salesman is blindly dismissing your customers concerns with you and your competition. If you’re smart, you’ll throw your competition a bone and then give your prospect a bone that is slightly meatier. It means you’re not afraid for your prospect to dive into what your competition is about and that instills confidence that you’re being truthful with them. Sales is all about relationships and faith that you are not fricking them over. If you’re selling some good shite, then sunlight is the best disinfectant. What do you have to worry about if you believe in your product?

I’ll stay in my lane. I know what I do and how to do it well. You ought to do the same.

This is 100% true. My dad has worked in sales since I was a toddler. I know for a fact that his clients stuck with his product, although inferior, because they trusted him. He'd take me fishing with his client/friends and their families and we had some fun times, I still go with them every now and then.

I make a good amount as it is. I'm pretty sure nurses aren't making bank anyways.

I have been dating a nurse for a while. I’ve dated quite a few and they can be crazy but better than dating other ladies in the hospital. Pharmaceutical Reps seem to be always looking for a ring
