Are they still not buying medical devices or just sticking with ordering what they previously used?

There are nuanced programs in medical devices. The surgeon will only be passingly familiar with them. Yeah, he may call you at 6:00 AM, but your value to your company and doctor are very much nullified if you’re not there in person. The doctor will just do the best thing he knows on the top of his head rather than call you at 6:00 AM.

Don't know if you remember the Susan Smith case from the 1990's. She strapped her kids in the back of her car and killed them by driving it into a lake in Union, SC. She then claimed a black guy carjacked her. Turns out she was having an affair and the guy she was cheating with didn't want kids.

Anyways, she got 2 corrections officers in trouble several years back for having affairs with both of them. Of all women in prison to sleep with, they choose the most evil one.

If they’re giving him and his staff lunch, I think he should still give them 5 minutes of his time.

Why? So a marketing major that flunked high school biology can tell him why he should prescribe the drug they’re hawking? His staff is very cordial to them and he gets the literature and samples they bring him and does his own research.

Because it’s your fricking job and if the doctor is not aware of your product you’re not doing it. It’s assholery to accept a meal and not at least address the person who gave it to you.

We need to bring back lashings for officers who fraternize with criminals/prisoners, especially while on duty.

You do realize that there are more than doctors using medical devices in hospitals, right? And beyond surgeons, there are many other clinicians who sit on committees and make buying decisions. Medical device industry is comprised of far more than the equipment used in an OR.

It is insane to keep bringing meals to the same office over and over again and expecting a different result

you can tell who isn’t in medical sales. Lots of people bring lunches to places where docs don’t come speak with them. It isn’t the case in my field, but in many fields the nurses make the decisions or actually tell the doctor what to order and from which company.

When you know (or even suspect) someone is going to frick you over, that's not insecurity. It's covering your arse.

Was in the industry, dude. I’m aware of this and was talking about my medical device perspective. Didn’t deal to much with the committees and 98% with doctors and nurses. If you were in the circle I was in, this coronavirus is a fricking nightmare for them. Like career ending for at least a year and a half.

Technically his office manager accepts it, and he goes home to eat lunch with my aunt most days so he rarely eats what they bring. And he gets their literature and does sometimes call them if he has questions. But his primary focus during the day is his patients.

5 minutes is too much for a pharma rep to ask?

Plus if the pharma rep leaves samples for the doctor to give his poorer patients, he has to sign for them. Can’t look at the person face to face that helps out your patients?

Dude, it’s fine and I feel for the OR people. I was in the OR for a while and our company laid off most of the Salesforce. It hurt at the time but now I realize The lay-off was a gift since it was since my product was used in mostly elective cases that I had to be there for. And guess what has now happened to the very few remaining after the slaughter? They gone because of Covid.

My sales actually went up in my facilities where they had high covid census. Use my product in ICU, and lots more if proning.

Can ask for all the time that you want, but you are 100% at the will of the physician. That is the nature of that business.

The physician can tell you no 100% of the time, and you have zero room to complain.
