My dad told me at his uncle's funeral in the 70s that his Aunt beat the chest of his dead uncle in the casket. He had apparently worked her over before so she was returning the favor

At a coworkers funeral:
Old woman butchered Amazing Grace worse than any song I've ever heard. It was so terrible that people started laughing and pretending to cry.
She proceeded to sing every verse ever written for it.
Then the pastor talked about how even though the guy didn't go to church that he had faith god could have spoke to his heart in his last days.
He concluded the eulogy with "so you see, even though someone isn't saved or doesn't go to church it's still possible to make it into heaven"
First thing I told my wife when I got home was "No one is allowed to sing at my funeral. No one who didn't know me personally is allowed to speak at my funeral. Donate my body to science."

I was in a Wedding which had no Bar at the shitty reception for the shitty marriage that ended when she had another man's baby.

One of my groomsmen's girlfriends got hammered drunk and was throwing up outside the reception with her legs spread facing back towards everybody. Bunch of dudes just stood there and watched. It was tough to watch but even tougher not to watch.
Another groomsman's girlfriend was trying to jump on my dad on the dance floor and my mom was getting annoyed.

I did attend a funeral where an old man was drinking a can of beer.

Relative played a recording of the Deceased singing a song. I think it was red river valley. The singing was not terrible but not good. Just weird hearing the dead person sing

Heard the same thing during services for a young lady that committed suicide. There was a gasp from the congregation and some walked out. Family members started crying and everybody was glad when it was all over.

At a reception, someone knocked over the bridal portrait by the entrance. The bride's family, who were as redneck as you'll ever see, got in a brawl over who did it. Some big fat lady punched a younger redneck, who proceeded to take off his shirt and fight back.
Cops were called, a few were put in handcuffs.
One of my friends later admitted to knocking it over

My wife is a funeral director/embalmer, so I've heard some good ones. I think the best was a man that had been married 3 times, plus had a current mistress (still married to 3rd wife), had a very "lively" wake. A son from the first marriage (30-something in age) hated the second wife (his 1st stepmother). He hid under the casket carriage (the thing the casket sits on covered by curtain/cloth) and waited until she approached. He jumped out yelling and screaming with some mild physical confrontation. City and County PD had to be called to the funeral home.

My uncle outlived most of his friends and relatives. Never wanted anyone to "be out of their way" for him. He took that to an extreme degree. When he died, he had detailed instructions to put him in the cheapest pine box and bury him the next day. His sisters agreed and told everyone he didnt want anyone at his "funeral", etc. I went anyway. Their was not suppose to be a preacher at the graveside (no funeral) but funeral home director or the local lodge brothers insisted. The preacher spoke about 3 minutes and then asked the people there (about 20) not to tell anyone he did the message in that manner (extra short). Its always puzzled me cause my uncle was well liked in his community (Hicks) and got a LOT of people their start in the oil business. Shriner, Lodge etc. Anyways the preacher's comment always stuck with me.My uncle was not embalmed or anything and I think the law is that you have to be buried quickly if not embalmed. I think he just didnt want to be a bother...

I was at a funeral for an older female relative last year. The pastor who did the ceremony continually called her by the wrong name. He also continually talked about how much her children loved her and how they will carry on her Legacy.
She had no kids.

At my cousin funeral, one of his thug arse friends was selling t-shirts with his picture on them outside the funeral home. We asked him to stop, and leave. He just moved a little further out.

A couple summers ago, my wife's younger brother finally got married.
The groom's grandparents (my wife's grandparents) are strict, southern Baptist, teetolitarians. The details of the wedding had to be kept from them so they didn't blow up. Not only would alcohol be served, there would be dancing and the wedding wasn't being performed in a church.
My daughter was a flower girl, so my wife was really responsible for her - I was on grandma duty. Had to shield her from stuff that I could. I handled it throughout the ceremony, but when those kids hit the dance floor and started grinding, I had to physically restrain grandma from going to the head table and yelling at the groom and bride.
I told my mother in law that I was going to get them back to the hotel. It was about 6:30.

this is actually a pretty common tradition among old people...I have actually seen them take turns posing with the person who has passed.
I worked at a funeral home for a year and a half and I honestly can't recall seeing anyone ever take a picture with the deceased.
Very strange.

funeral home was my first real job at age 16. Did it for about a year and a half.
It's honestly not a bad gig, if you make it high enough up the chain there's some major coin but most people don't ever see it through that long. And of course, you're essentially always on call and could be dragged out of bed at any minute, and you're guaranteed to work a crap ton of weekends.
Not something I wanted to make a career out of but a great learning experience and a pretty fun first job.
