Sad day for the boys in blue of Louisville.

Update: Bryan Gillis, the arresting officer, formerly worked for NOPD and went to school at Delgado. Go figure.

World No. 1 golfer Scottie Scheffler was detained by Louisville Metro Police on Friday morning while trying to drive into the entrance of Valhalla Golf Club, the site of this week's PGA Championship.
Traffic outside the golf course had been stopped after a man was struck and killed by a shuttle bus around 5 a.m. ET. According to ESPN reporter Jeff Darlington, who witnessed the incident, Scheffler was trying to drive around the crash scene on a median. A police officer instructed Scheffler to stop, but Scheffler continued to drive about 10 to 20 yards toward the entrance. Editor's Picks
At one point, an officer attached himself to the side of Scheffler's car. Scheffler stopped his car as he turned into the entrance of Valhalla Golf Club. After about 20 to 30 seconds, Scheffler rolled down his window to talk to the officer. The officer grabbed Scheffler's arm to pull him out of the vehicle, according to Darlington.
The officer reached inside the vehicle to open the door, and once Scheffler was pulled out, he was pushed against the car and placed in handcuffs. Darlington was standing at the entrance when Scheffler was detained.
Darlington said Scheffler turned to him and asked, "Can you help?" According to Darlington, an officer instructed him to back away. "You need to get out of the way," the officer told Darlington. "There's nothing you can do. He's going to jail.

Gillis also writes on LinkedIn that he has been a “traffic officer” with the Louisville Metro Police Department from September 2014 to present. Gillis also worked as a patrol officer with the Louisville Police Department from 2007 to present. Before that, he worked as a patrol officer with the New Orleans Police Department from 2004 to 2007. In 2022, Open Payrolls listed his police officer’s salary as just over $76,000.

His education was listed as a bachelor of science degree in business administration and management from the University of Phoenix, and credits in business completed through Delgado Community College.

There’s no context at current. The cops grabbed him and arrested him. That’s all that’s being reported

He has already been released.
He drove through a traffic stop.
It is believed the incident took place after a misunderstanding with traffic flow led to his attempt to drive past a police officer into the golf club.
Authorities had halted traffic after man was killed by a bus outside Valhalla, although it is not clear if this is related to Scheffler's detention.

Scheffler was put in handcuffs after a "misunderstanding with traffic flow led to his attempt to drive past a police officer into Valhalla Golf Club," ESPN’s Jeff Darlington wrote on X.
The police officer attempted to attach himself to Scheffler’s car, and Scheffler then stopped his vehicle at the entrance to Valhalla," Darlington added. "The police officer then began to scream at Scheffler to get out of the car. When Scheffler exited the vehicle, the officer shoved Scheffler against the car and immediately placed him in handcuffs. He is now being detained in the back of a police car."

Apparently he tried to drive around some traffic controls outside Valhallah, and the cops didn't like that too much.
