That is the one I would be worried about and was asking about moreso. I get you would lie and say you aren't working, and you don't have to have those cartops or whatever they are called that say ABC Pizza, but it is a big risk because lying is almost certainly insurance fraud.

Yeah and if your accident case goes to court you'll have to testify under oath and you don't want to committee perjury.

The upcharge on the menu is 100% chosen by the restaurant. This I can promise you. I can also promise you if your food is cold it is either because you ordered from somewhere far away, you had a shitty driver, or the restaurant took forever. Drivers want to deliver as fast as possible to make as much as they can. I promise you it is not their fault.

Then why are the prices normal from the same restaurants from different delivery sites? And nothing against you, but I’m over waitr and I’ve been waiting 2 days for a response for their customer service. I also don’t doubt that I’ve gotten crappy drivers and that’s probably due in part to the employment crisis. And the restaurants are always close. Within 5 miles or so. I know the waitr drivers are taking forever to pick up the orders because I see it being “prepared” for more than an hour which I know is not how these restaurants operate.

I think most insurance carriers have riders for this now.

It depends on how much each service (Waitr, DoorDash, Grubhub, etc) charges the restaurant. I understand what you are saying tho, I work for them, but I do not use Waitr for anything other than to look at menus, then I call it in and go pick it up. One thing I do promise you tho is no driver that I know of is wasting time picking up your order. When an order gets placed into the system the longest "wait time" shown to the driver is 30 minutes. after 30 minutes, whether the order is actually ready or not it will show in the driver's app that it is ready. Certain restaurants are extremely slow with getting orders out. For example here in Lake Charles if your order from Nina P's, be prepared to wait a LONG frickin time for your food. Most drivers instantly decline orders from there no matter the tip because it will literally take over an hour for them to give it to you even if its just a single salad or some shite.

Is there any way to scout delivery volume in certain areas? Like say I want to go to Orlando. Can I just d/l the driver app and check that? I'm up to move soon and the idea of picking my city sounds pretty legit. Wouldn't mind doing something like this part time in addition to my other side hustle.

Can you easily work outside of Lake Chuck? Example you visit your grandma in Houston for 4 weeks - can you easily start doing deliveries?

Yes, after you have applied and been hired anywhere Waitr or BiteSquad is available you just need to let them know to add you to that market and you can work it.

Waitr’s real problem is their absurd fee structure. Just looked at an order we placed a couple of months ago.

Food (subtotal): $47.00
Tax: $4.68
Delivery fee: $3.98
Service fee: $7.72
Tip: $8.35
Total: $71.73

So if you remove the subtotal and the taxes, Waitr collected $20.05 (including the driver’s tip) on the order. But it’s worse, because on top of that they are charging the restaurant a 15-25% commission plus a 3.1% credit card transaction fee, according to reports I’ve read. So let’s say it’s 15% commission on the low end, and let’s assume that the credit card fee only applies to the subtotal:

Commission: $7.05
Credit card transaction fee: $1.46

Waitr is collecting $28.56 on this $47 food order. I could take an Uber to this restaurant and back for less than $15, and those guys actually have to carry insurance for passengers.

OP already said that they guarantee $10 per delivery, so that’s basically $18.56 for Waitr to process the order electronically and cover advertising/hiring costs. And this company is having trouble turning a profit?

I stopped using Waitr when I finally realized how absurd the cost really is, even when compared to their competition. I want to support a Louisiana company but it seems they have some serious problems. And that’s without even mentioning their customer service and buggy app.

I mean, I get what you’re saying but I find it hard to believe that their BR wait times are driven primarily by restaurants. Rotolo’s sends you a text when your food is ready. If you order from Rotolo’s on Burbank via Waitr, the app will tell you it’s like a 50 minute wait time. 15 minutes later you get a text from Rotolo’s saying your food is ready. Check the Waitr app.. your food is still “being prepared” for the next 35 minutes.

I drive for doordash and an experience I’ve had is some restaurants will click that the order is ready before it’s actually ready so it’s possible that is what’s occurring here

No you're not. The injured party is going to find out you were working and skip right over your paltry 20/50/20 shite and go after the employer.
I've seen this happen with fellow drivers.
The driver is fired obviously but nothing ever comes of it as far as perjury. It never goes to court.

Dude. Almost Everyone I know who commutes to work is committing insurance fraud by simply lying about the mileage they drive every day. what's that daily limit for the lowest rate? 12 miles a day?

And if someone is dumb enough to tell their insurance agent they're using their vehicle to deliver food/pizzas....

Same here. They send me at least 3 or 4 notifications a day with a free delivery code, but it's still not worth it.

Nope. That's a good way to get in trouble with the IRS. But as short staffed as they are right now, you could probably get away with it.

I've worked with several fulltime career pizza delivery drivers over the years at MR Gatti's, Dominos, and Papa Johns. They all kept detailed mileage/logs of everything and deducted expenses legally with the IRS.
You don't have to be 1099 to deduct some of that stuff if it's your fulltime job(over % of agi).

Yea the handful of guys I know who did pizza fulltime as a career were straight-shooters as they come and would never have done shite to break the law or cheat the IRS.

Sidebar: I worked with a guy briefly in 1995 at Dominos. He was a manager at some La State Office in Baton Rouge. He was brilliant, had his masters in engineering and all. He knew exactly how many hours he could work on average per week to not hit the next tax bracket.
He was working 2nd job to buy his daughter a car with cash b/c he hated debt. Can't make that shite up.

You meet some interesting people peddlin pizzas.

I add my entire year worth of miles. Have logos on my vehicle so a cpa told me technically everywhere I go I’m advertising. Not sure if that even has anything to do with what y’all are discussing but yea that’s what I do
