I don't blame you, I personally don't use Waitr myself. The only time I will use them or DoorDash is on weekends, mostly during football season if I've already been drinking and don't feel like cooking. Even tho every employee gets a personal promo code for free delivery, I mostly just use them for the menu and then call it in directly to the restaurant and go pick it up. Waitr also does Walmart pickup, at least here in LC, but I usually don't do them because a lot of the time those seem to be pretty far drives for the drop.

That is pretty cool that DoorDash adds a bonus for doing multiple drops at once, I wasn't aware of that. Waitr also gives you additional drops like that, but there isn't a bonus added to it.

I guess it depends on which market you decide to work. Here in LC Waitr has far more restaurants than any of the other services, so it works out better for me. Like I said tho, I know of quite a few drivers that do both at the same time.

As far as the hood thing, totally understandable for her, plus I'm always carrying. I've never had an issue tho. Some of my better tips have actually come from hood deliveries lol, I guess because they know most people won't want to go there. And the hood loves breakfast, that's where I usually make my morning money.

Coworker of mine I was talking about other day basically got hired on the day he applied. Waitr has been trying to talk him into starting deliveries but he’s still waiting on his hot bag to come in. He’s going to do it as a side job. He drives an older truck but knows how to do much of the work on it himself and only wants to do morning and lunch deliveries

Your personal policy will have an exclusion, however Waitr has coverage if you are on a delivery (to or from).

I've gone down the rabbit hole of delivering food using Waitr and Door Dash after seeing your post. It's certainly an addicting way to earn some extra cash.

That said, explain to me like I'm 5 of how to track my mileage/expenses on my taxes. Will I need both a log of miles and cash receipts for gas? I completed a fair amount of orders today without logging miles and just realized I need to do so. Is there an app I can use to track mileage or a way to do so that's fairly straightforward? Thanks in advance!

download the app called Everlance. It tracks your miles automatically and will generate the forms to file your taxes. Its the simplest app Ive found to do it.

$60 for a year.

I log about 2500 work miles per month

eta- you dont need to retain gas receipts, just the mileage logs. You cannot claim both mileage AND fuel/wear and tear/maintenance. One or the other.

Do you have a Driver Referral code? Not sure of you get anything extra but I was filling out the driver application and it asked and wanted to credit you if it mattered...

I personally just keep track of them on my own. Its been around 8,000 miles per year, I know some people just claim standard mileage deduction. I have a buddy that's a CPA and he does everything for me to cover as much as possible.

I think so, but no idea what it is lol. I've never used it before. I appreciate it man, but don't worry about it. I asked in our Discord server but haven't gotten an answer.

ETA: Just got an answer from a manager. Its my phone number, and I'd obviously rather not post that on here lol.

Does Waitr know this? (you don't have to answer)

Not in any official sense, I've never explicitly told them. Don't really care tho, I'm gonna protect myself. I carry legally. I know of quite a few other drivers that do as well.
